Gasthof zur Post - Herrsching am Ammersee

We’ve made a one day trip to Herrsching at Ammersee and had lunch in the restaurant of Gasthof zur Post. It was a good decision to reserve a table in advance as the place was full with locals since it was Easter Friday. Normally fish is on the menu on this special day in Germany, so we ordered grilled Seibling fish with potato salad and I must say it was quite tasty. The Augustine Helles beer had a strange taste though, it was watered down in my opinion and I found it strange as well that they did not have any Brezel & bread to offer due to closed bakeries on public holidays! Stopped here for supper. We had been the previous evening for drinks and there was a good atmosphere. This is a busy place but despite that service was good. English menus are available. I had the smoked salmon salad which came with a baked potato with cheese and chives. There was a good amount of salad and a big portion of smoked salmon. My husband had the local specialty which is in effect macaroni cheese with onion on top. We followed this with a chocolate ice cream sundae and apple strudel respectively. The strudel came with custard and cream. Good service. Good food. Good night. Would recommend.

Came here with another family with kids, a total of 14 people. The food was good, no complaints. Once we had our food, we were ignored and the server never brought us more water after we ordered it. During dinner, we were inundated with numerous flies buzzing around our table as we tried to eat (sitting outside). So we went somewhere else for dessert. But the reason for 2 stars is that the men's room is covered with photos of nude women, some very inappropriate, and lingerie is strung up over the urinals. Just tasteless and tacky, especially for a restaurant that caters to kids with a kids menu.

We stopped by this place on the way back from Lech. Wonderful setting, super friendly staff, and the food, amazing. We had an asparagus and schnitzel and it was amazing, I guess this was the best schnitzel we have ever had. The setting of the restaurant is in a very lively and picturesque town of Herrshing, the lake is so calming and it is great to walk around and bas in the sun. The area of lakes around Munich will see us again. Réservez une table maintenant

After reading the reviews on Trip Advisor, I thought I'd try out Gasthof zur Post in Herrsching am Ammersee for Sunday lunch. The food was absolutely excellent! I had the roast pork ribs with Knödle (dumpling) and Sauerkraut, served with a rich gravy. For dessert, I had the Eiskaffe, which is two scoops of espresso ice cream with espresso and whipped cream. I would highly recommend.

We have been here three times and have always been very satisfied with the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff. We also celebrated a birthday with friends last week and our guests were very happy. The restaurant is also suitable for celiacs and vegans (hard to find in Bavaria). Great inn with nice rooms and a reasonable price! The breakfast buffet is super good and the scrambled eggs are freshly prepared for each guest. The beer garden is also always worth a visit in summer! There are always great promotions like currently a fireplace with mulled wine. Keep it up! Rooms: 4 Service: 5 Location: 5

We spent one night there and were looked after very warmly. Location right in the town center. Breakfast was very good. Unfortunately we weren't able to test the kitchen, but we'll catch up! I stayed at the hotel Post a couple of times in March and had dinner each time at their gasthof. A very friendly atmosphere and good service. The wienerschnitzel is top class - try it!
