We visited Gazali's last year around Christmas on a Saturday for lunch, and we found it to be overrated. The food was just okay, not exceptional at all. To top it off, the prices were shockingly high, and the portion sizes didn't justify the expense. We tried the Dolma, Falafel Rice Bowl, Falafel Wrap, Hummus, Falafel Ball, and some extra veggies. Unfortunately, the Falafel Ball was undercooked, so we asked for a replacement. As vegetarians, we were disappointed by the limited vegetable options in our dishes. I understand that running a restaurant is a tough business. However, that doesn't change the fact that our other jobs are challenging as well. Unfortunately, this was the worst food presentation and preparation I've ever encountered. They simply dumped the food into a box and sent it out. The rice was disproportionately larger than the other items listed on the menu, just piled on top to create the illusion of larger portions. I barely saw four pieces of pickle and only three strands of chicken. We had a wonderful time during our visit! The food was expertly prepared and served by friendly, knowledgeable staff. The owner was present and stopped by our table several times to ensure we were having a great experience. I ordered the gyro and was thrilled to find my favorite fast food item transformed into a truly gourmet dish. It was packed with flavor and offered a delightful mix of unique condiments and textures. The owner also recommended we try the Turkish coffee, and despite the hot summer afternoon, I absolutely loved this delicious drink that was new to me. I'm excited to return and explore more of this fantastic menu!
I always enjoy visiting this restaurant! MJ Gazali creates a warm and inviting atmosphere for everyone who walks in. It's a place that emphasizes connection, with the soft sounds of Sinatra playing in the background, making it easy to forget you're in Clive, Iowa, as the outside world is obscured by frosted windows. Now, let's talk about the food! Every dish my partner and I have sampled has been fantastic! I especially recommend the spicy garlic chicken shawarma, falafel, hummus, and baklava! I'm really glad we decided to have dinner here tonight—MJ, the incredible host, made our experience unforgettable. We enjoyed the Chicken Shawarma, salad, and falafel, all of which were delicious. The baklava truly stole my heart! MJ was such a wonderful person and even suggested we try the coffee with the baklava, which turned out to be an amazing combination. We've definitely found our new favorite spot. Cheers!
I highly recommend starting with the hummus and finishing off with baklava paired with Turkish coffee. We tried the jalapeño chicken wrap and the garlic chicken wrap, and both were bursting with flavor. The chicken was incredibly tender too. Don’t forget to ask for a side of their hot sauce—it's perfect with the hummus, and I added some to my wrap as well. I’ll definitely be returning!
Had dinner here twice so far. Excellent meals both times. Prefer the hummus over the babaghanoush personally, just a texture thing. Both taste good. The chips are amazing try them out. Fair prices, friendly staff, and the owner seems really nice and cares about the customers.
