The restaurant is cleverly designed, with it's casual surroundings much in accordance with the latest fad which is supposed to create a relaxed atmosphere of sophisticated coolness . I found amusing the old suitcases springing out of the wall and momentarily enjoyed concentrating on the collection of postcards attached around one of the pillars in the dining area. Although it was lunch time, the restaurant was almost completely empty. Two ladies which had taken their seats around a near-by table fragments of seconds just ahead of us, left the premises hastily after the exact amount of three minutes. Only the adjacent booth to ours was occupied by an elderly lady and her vivacious -i guess- g...

We've been coming here for the last 3 years, normally once every couple of months. It's a lovely local restaurant and serves absolutely great food. The maitre'd is fantastic and she recognises us when we come in which is really nice, particularly in restaurant packed London. We went last night and were dismayed to discover that alcohol is no longer served. We're not ones for desperately needing a drink when we eat, however, it's great to have a nice bottle of wine with dinner. The restaurant was empty, bar one table of four behind us. I appreciate it's the new owner's decision as to whether alcohol is served or not but, he/she will have to live with the consequences. Sadly, so will the staff...

We were told before we booked that no alcohol would be served, which was fine as both of us were just looking to go out and enjoy a nice meal. The staff were lovely and the food was really great, but the restaurant was empty and had no atmosphere. We had starters of squid and poached eggs which were both very well cooked, followed by the steak and salmon again both were full of flavour. We visited on a Saturday night, and I can only imagine how much business is being affected by the owners decision to run this hotel by Sharia law. They need to aim it at health food, or clean eating customers, with mocktails etc on offer as a way to make it more interesting. Otherwise I can't see business imp...

We often recommend this hotel as its next door to where we live. I tell visiting business people to my company to stay. NEVER AGAIN. Popped in for breakfast. Place empty. Turkey rashers!! No sausages. We are in England and like typical English breakfast. Or a bacon sandwich. Or sausage in a bun. We left and didn't order. My sister is staying there tonight. We had planned for 12 of us to breakfast there tomorrow not now. Never again. Hej the cafe in the square crowded stupid marketing person at hotel I wonder how the balance sheet looks for your empty restaurant. Offer kosher. Offer halal. But remember you should cater for everyone Réservez une table maintenant

Our group of four ordered a variety of dishes at this restaurant and we were all impressed with our meals. The homemade tagliatelle with tender rabbit, perfectly cooked steak, lamb, and fish (particularly the cod and chips) were all delicious. The prices were reasonable and the service was helpful and friendly. The desserts were just as fantastic as the main courses. The only thing to note is that the restaurant does not serve alcohol, but there are plenty of nearby spots in the Bermondsey area to enjoy a local beer. Overall, we highly recommend visiting this restaurant.

The staff at this restaurant were very welcoming and were able to arrange a last-minute reservation for my dinner. However, we were not told that they did not serve alcohol or allow BYOB. If I had known this beforehand, I would have chosen a different place for this occasion. It would be helpful if this unusual policy were made clear at the time of booking, especially for an evening meal in London.

I was very disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. There was no nice glass of wine, the menu was mediocre, and the batter on the fish was horrible. Additionally, my wild mushroom penne had more button mushrooms than wild ones, as advertised. Overall, I will not be returning to this restaurant. I would rather spend my money elsewhere and enjoy a better dining experience.

Call me pedantic but I assumed somewhere called 'Grill and Bar ' would serve alcohol. I was surprised to find that having sat down and chosen our food, we were unable to order a glass of wine. Réservez une table maintenant
