on holiday I love places that are not “tourist”, a place where the locals go. genus series is such a place. It is warm, welcoming and is led by an exciting young couple that houses it as if it were her home. alexandra (alex) takes care of their standard drink orders and eating (Meze cuisine), while tim prepares the most incredible cocktails. her cocktail selection is simply not from this world. I counted over 80 different rum cocktails and there were also several other sections! as it is, the selection of around comprises over 250 different sorts! it is a short trip outside of frankfurt (20 minutes by train). taxi can be more expensive depending on the location. it is worth it. they can also check them on facebook.

This bar can compete with any of the great hotel bars in global cities. It is tucked away in a relatively small, cosy cellar in the heart of Bad Vilbel, near Frankfurt. Owner and barkeeper Tim is very professional and has a great personality. He...is at his best when you just describe him what kind of drink you are fancying. Tim will create something for you that you probably never tasted before. Of course, he has memorized probably a few hundred of the typical cocktails. Worth to be mentioned his excellent collection of rums. To be on the safe side, make a reservation to get a nice place at the massive bar, here you can watch the busy action of Tim and his staff.
