Gillitzer's - Réserver une table

We ate here most evenings as part of a two-week holiday with Thomson. As half-board guests, each day we got starter/soup, buffet salad, a choice of 3 main courses, and dessert. Everything we had was delicious, and service in the cosy restaurant was friendly and efficient. The choices were usually between a traditional Bavarian dish, a less Bavarian alternative, and a vegetarian option. There were also Italian and Bavarian buffet nights which were excellent. Our 13-year old reasonably fussy eaters loved all the food too - mostly the Bavarian choices. On one night each when they didn't like what was on offer, they could default to the children's menu with no fuss and had plenty of choice. Our one frustration was the common local practice of charging for tap water - €5 per litre in this case, which might be a shock to UK and Irish visitors.

We visited mid-March 2016 late in the ski season just before the Easter holidays based on a TA search for likely places to eat in Ruhpolding.The interior and atmosphere is very nice and relaxing. We came early in the evening and for a while were the only guests.Service was friendly and efficient and unobtrusiveWe had the 3 course fixed menu - starter salads (ok) and bread (great - with a butter/berry mix - amazing)- main (salmon, asparagus, tagliatelle) was a bit disappointing - we do just as well or better at home- desert (pannacotta) very goodSo overall it was ok - but the food did not quite match the quality of the service or the interior

We have eaten here three times during our stay and have found the food to be exceptional. Great service and presentation. You can eat inside or in the quaint garden area looking over the mountains.

Situated in the Centre of Rupholding. There is an excellent Menu, with Great Food and Service. Dining can be outside or inside. Lovely Surroundings.

Gillitzer's is part of the Hotel Wittlesbach and offers excellent food and drink. The staff were helpful and friendly.
