When you walk into a Mitsuwa Marketplace, you might think it's just your average Japanese grocery store, but you would be mistaken. Here lies a hidden gem, the best takoyaki I've had in LA. I got the Original Takoyaki (8 pc) to share with my roommate. These are some BIG balls, the biggest I've seen thus far. They were tasty and soft, with a good amount of flakes on top, which add to the umami flavor of the dish. Staff was friendly and quick, we waited around for probably 2 minutes max. Next time you go shopping at this Mitsuwa, don't hesitate to order some for a nice snack/meal. You won't complain about the portion size.
Wow!! Best takoyaki I have had in LA!! I was not too interested in trying takoyaki from the food court but I am glad I did!! The outsides are so crispy and crunchy and the inside was so fluffy and airy--not all dense like they normally are at an izakaya. At first glance, I was also disappointed that there wasn't a side of red ginger on top but when I bit the inside, it was all chopped up in the batter! I would definitely keep coming back and would likely raise the review to higher stars if the chicken karage is just as good.
This place tastes just like authentic Japanese cuisine! It's situated inside the Mitsuwa grocery store and shares a common dining area with other eateries, so finding a seat can be challenging during busy hours. However, Takoyaki is an excellent option for grabbing and going! Since this is one of the few locations in the U.S., it is a bit more expensive than usual, but I believe it’s absolutely worth it. If you're looking for genuine Japanese Takoyaki, this is the place to be!
Not bad, not great. Overpriced, but it seems like everything in Mitsuwa is. The squid was rubbery in my original takoyaki. The flavor itself was ok, but the shell didn 't have any of the satisfying and characteristic crunch or crispness that comes with a good takoyaki. I 've had much better takoyaki at cheaper prices as starters or side dishes at a number of restaurants in LA. People writing best takoyaki in LA in their reviews need to get out more...

Best takoyaki in the states! Always an easy ordering process and although I appreciate the variety of flavors, original is hard to beat. I shared 6 pieces with someone as a perfect snack. This location is located in the Santa Monica Mitsuwa. Parking is easy as it is a supermarket parking lot. Tables may be limited during peak lunch/dinner times so go during off times if you want to eat there!
The food is great. I would give 5 stars but the service, ehh. They have a hige banner that says phone order available! . But when i asked them if their business phone is not working they said they don 't pick up the phone because they are busy. When i got there, there was no line and not busy. So
I absolutely loved their takoyaki! It was delicious and packed with pieces of octopus. I really appreciate their creative flavor options. I tried both the original and the Yuzu flavor, and they were both fantastic. I highly recommend them—they might even taste better than the ones I've had in Japan!
The takoyaki here was tasty and super filling. It's $8 for 8 big ones and they put a generous amount of sauce and bonito flakes on it. The octopus was tender and flavorful.

The experience was decent. If you're in the mood for okonomiyaki, it's worth trying. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
