6 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 children went here for my mom's birthday meal. Mom chose the place as she's been here before. I wasn't sure what to expect from her description so I checked on here before leaving work. I have never seen so many 5 star reviews and hoped it lived up to the hype. We arrived at 7:30pm after driving through a pleasant housing estate. The premises are located on the ground floor of a community centre, next to the gym. The illuminated GIOS sign was the only clue. Upon entering, we saw 4 other tables were occupied, with 12-14 other patrons. The interior decor was unusual, with countless pieces of artwork, movie posters, and unusual items with an Italian theme. I lived in Italy for a while, so I am familiar with Italian kitchen. Therefore I must say that I was very satisfied with Gio's food quality and the taste. I am just kind of surprised that some people are complaining about some dishes i.e not like a soup, not like a lasagna etc). Because what I tried there is a proper and tasteful Italian food. Whoever is complaining, probably never been to local trattoria in Italy or to Italy at all. Totally loved the food and the warm, friendly service provided.
We don't normally go out for a meal on Valentine's Day, as the food is usually overpriced and the service is poor but when we knew that Gio was opening for Valentine's, we had no hesitation in booking. The welcome from Gio and Gabri is always warm and the food, as ever, was excellent and fantastic value for money. Thank you both for yet another lovely evening, see you soon, Lin Rob xx
we had a fantastic meal here on Saturday night, it was a great culinary experience. eating was great and the ambiente of the place is beyond believe. no formal, authentic, quirky and individual Italian experience, friendly staff and a well-known cook/owner. can not recommend this location enough. in the words of arnie I will come back. Relaxed and friendly, fantastic value for money, terrific atmosphere. It was easy to let Gio select a range of dishes for us to sample. This place is just mint. Every time. Portions are massive, prices are fair. BYOB. You will never complain. If you do, I’ll foot the bill. The food, service and ambiance could not be beaten.
We have had a group meal and the chef bought out a selection of meals and pizzas for all. Pizzas were authentic in style and full of flavour and the mains were very tasty. Quaint little place with an odd layout but the food and service was faultless. Will definitely come back! 19 people ate at 1 table!
Big thank you to Gio and all his staff, we had a fabulous night celebrating my husband's 60th birthday. Night was perfect, food fantastic and atmosphere great. Also thanks to Andy aka Brains for Breakfast who did a marvelous job with entertainment. Would recommend this venue every time.
