I used to frequent this restaurant a lot when I lived in the area, but it was never my favorite. The Hartford giant grinder is known for its fresh ingredients and generous portions, making it a popular choice for many. Unfortunately, when I went on a Sunday, they were closed, so I decided to give it another try. To my disappointment, the $10 chicken cutlet sandwich was a letdown. The small, tough frozen chicken patty and wilted lettuce were unacceptable. The older lady, who I assume is one of the owners, seemed to think it was okay to serve such poor quality food to customers. It was truly revolting. The customer service at this restaurant is very poor. A young girl, who seemed to be around 15-16 years old, was sweeping the area before closing at 8 PM. She had dirty hands and handed me desserts without wearing any gloves. When she overcharged me for a pastry, I told her I didn't need it, but she still charged me for the dessert I didn't receive. When I asked for the receipt, she said she had already closed the ticket without asking me if I needed it. I called to inform them that I had been overcharged, but the teenager girl just hung up the phone without addressing the issue.
I visited this bakery for a pie and tiramisu. I expected them to have a good variety of baked goods since they are a bakery. However, I was disappointed to find that they had only two pies in a nearly empty fridge that did not look fresh. The tiramisu I ordered turned out to be a coffee-flavored cake that bore no resemblance to traditional tiramisu. I ended up going to Stop and Shop next, where I discovered their bakery had a much better selection of freshly baked pies and pastries. I was highly disappointed in Giuliano's Bakery.
