My kids and I ate lunch here. Kids had pizza by the slice and I had a slice, Greek salad and clam chowder. Very reasonable prices and pretty decent food. Each of us agreed that the pizza didn't have enough sauce, but still tasted good. I had the first scoops of Greek salad out of a new container full and either they didn't put any dressing on the salad or it had drained to the bottom of the bowl. Lots of cheese, though. Soup had plenty of clams and clam taste but is very thin, like a broth. I prefer a thicker base, but this is probably West Coast style. Overall, a good meal, but not great.
After placing our orders the waiter showed up with pizza's but couldn't tell which kinds she brought. Later on she showed up with a pizza which wasn't ours. When finishing our meals it seemed the waiters forgot about us and we had to wait for about 30 minutes before the desert which was part of one of our meals was delivered. The waiter noted that this was a busy night but the wait was however way too long.The pizza's we had were good, so for that this place is recommended. There is however room for improvement regarding the service.
We tried Gnarly Roots twice--once for late night pizza and once for family stroll ice cream. The experience with the pizza left us with decent pizza-by-the-slice but the counter service was a little less than inspired. Almost felt like we were interrupting a conversation to order/pay. Pizza good quality.We went in for ice cream (blueberry/lemon, salted caramel--GOOOOD). The service was better and we were in and out in next to no time. Great ice cream and waffle cones.
The pizza was really good....if you like thick crust. The other side of the cafe offered different dishes. I had the Greek Salad but it was almost all green peppers..so not my favorite...didn't taste like much of anything except a green pepper salad with a few tomatoes, feta cheese, cucumbers and olives. Good place to pop in for a cold Réservez une table maintenant
I had a spinach omelette at Gnarly Roots, and loved it. It was fluffy, light and served with bread. I decided to try the coconut gelato afterwards and enjoyed that as well. There is no table service here, so decide what you want, place your order at the counter, grab your cutlery and find yourself a seat - inside or out.
