"We had several meals here and all were stellar. One of the better breakfasts I have had in Germany. For dinner, the beef cheeks were "to die for."

Ate here in June with a larger group. Schwabisch Hall is an absolutely charming city and the Goldener Adler adds to the charm. The hotel/restaurant is located right on the market square adjacent to the open air theatre/church. They provide outdoor seating as well as elegant casual indoor dining. The service is exceptional and the food is amazingly great! We enjoyed the pork with mushroom sauce and although it was a large portion, I was able to eat most of it. It paired well with the Mohrenkopfle beer only available in this region brewed by Haller Lowenbrau! I cannot speak for the hotel accommodations as I did not stay here; however, the bathrooms are large and very clean.
Nice and clean place with a great traditional atmosphere. All the food is of good quality and served fresh. I could say that the steak I ordered was a 9.5 out of 10from all the steak I had this year. Service is accurate but in no way inspiring. The staff walk around as if they work in a Goulag labour camp. Staff hangs around with long faces and are not friendly in any way. If you don't mind the bad behaving and unfriendly staff you will be quite okay.
So we were a group of 5 for dinner and drinks. Service was promptly and courteous. The food was delicious. Traditional meals and great steak as well. Large portion sizes. Cold beer. We sat on the patio and we're entertained the entire time by a rehearsal for a play happening right beside the restaurant at St Michaels church. Great night.
