In 10 years coming to Provincetown, I’ve never been to the Governor Bradford! I heard through the grapevine their new Japanese-inspired menu was worth a trip, so I went today for some apps and a drink. My cocktail had whiskey and peach nectar and was “ok.” It was a bit sweet and felt light on the booze. We then had the halibut ceviche and the Ronin roll. Both were quite good, especially the roll. The ceviche was good but could have used a little salt and far more chips for the amount of ceviche. I’d definitely come back to try more and have more of that delicious sushi!
We came in on a Saturday afternoon and sat at the bar to watch the Michigan game. The bartender was super friendly and described menu items in detail. We had delicious crispy “ spicy tokyo rub” chicken wings, a flavorful miso soup, and broccoli Goma, with a maple sesame sauce and crispy shallots. The restaurant has a ling history here, but was recently taken over by a new owner who relishes preparing interesting dishes with an Asian fusion flair. I recommend trying the “new” Bradford!
Looks and feels like a pub, has amazing Asian-style food! We arrived at 6:20 PM on a Friday with a group of 10 plus three small children (5 and under). They sat us pretty quickly and we had great service throughout our meal. The food arrived at different times but that’s to be expected with the sushi. The fried chicken bao bun, fried zucchini, and Ronin (spicy tuna yellow tail) roll were delish! Great drinks too. Def will visit again in the future!
Unable to cook fried rice......... Fried sushi was a fail. Sickly and full of cheese, so I sent it back. I asked for a bowl of fried rice instead. How can a Japanese themed restaurant serve up mushy, overcooked fried rice? That got sent back also. Paid for drinks only and left. Spoke to some locals later on. They'd never eaten there....... Hard pass.

I had not been to Gov Bradford in a while and it's very different than I remember, but in a good way! I got the wagyu beef smashburger and it was really good! The waitstaff were great, and the drinks were delicious, too. I recommend anyone to go there when in P-town.
