We were looking forward to going to Gran Chino, as we’ve eaten there frequently before. On previous visits the food has always been excellent, so we were expecting the same. Starters we excellent as on previous occasions. Main courses arrived, and now it goes down hill. My order was for Chicken Green Thai Curry, the chicken looked mainly like pieces of skin. The sauce was the consistency of water, and the only reason it was curry tasting was because of the amount of finely chopped red chillies. Called the waiter over, and showed him the meal, and asked him what he thought about it. He shrugged his shoulders, and went to the kitchen, and came back with the Chef. I repeated what I had said to the waiter, again no real answer as to why I was served such an appalling meal. The waiter removed the meal, at no time was I offered an alternative meal, or an apology. I told the waiter that under no circumstances was I going to pay for my meal. Item 50 on the menu. So our anniversary meal was a bit of a disaster.
There are lots of Asian food restaurants in Orihuela Costa, but Gran China in Los Dolches is recommendable and worth a visit, as opposed to many other places we have visited. Pleasant interior and attentive staff. Tasty and fresh looking food. Very reasonable price as well. We will without a doubt return to this restaurant.
We eat here often and always have a great meal. Like lots of the local restaurants they seem to struggle a little with the business of high season. The dishes were good but not as good as usual. More veg in the noodles more veg in the meat and prawn dishes just not up to the normal high standards.
