Grandma's at McEvoy is a cozy yet spacious spot to have a bite of beautiful, fresh home-style food. As you walk in, you are greeted with charming, rustic decor, which creates a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. Here, you can enjoy comforting courses of cafe-style breakfasts, salads, pastries, and cookies, as well as traditional shakshukas, which is a traditional baked egg dish. One of the highlights was Grandma's bakery, where a delicious mix of sweet and savoury treats are freshly made in-house - my favourite was the Nutella babka cake. The vibrant and colourful dishes were brought out in generous servings and all had that warm homey feel. The friendly staff were attentive to our needs and m...

I really enjoyed my brunch at Grandma's at McEnvoy.Grandma's guiding concept is home style cooking and baking based on the recipes of Grandma's around the world. The menu is classed as "multicultural", but there were definitely strong Mediterranean influences. Of all the dishes I tried, my favourites were the 'Ricotta, Banana and Coconut Frittata', pretty much all their desserts, and every dish with their delicious beef mince. The pastry used in the Sambusak was also amazing! The venue itself was also quite homely, with retro and rustic influences. There were two floors: the ground floor being the main restaurant area, and an upper floor used for classes and events (refer to the dessert/coffe...
Grandma's at McEvoy is a perfect choice if you're looking for a simple, hearty and wholesome brunch. Visiting the cafe feels like being welcomed into a grandmothers kitchen where baked goods and delicious meals are made from scratch. The cafe itself is spacious and is filled with cute vintage pieces throughout. From savoury to sweets, there are a lot of great options to choose from. My personal favourites are the hearty shakshukas (baked eggs) and their pretty ricotta coconut fritata. Their portions are also quite generous so its also fantastic for sharing. Apart from the food, the staff were also very friendly and attentive which is a bonus. With so many great options and large space, Grand...
GRANDMAS is one of my fave places to eat. It isn’t pictured in this article but my favourite dish is the Beef and Mushroom Vol-au-vents. That dish sums up my childhood – it also speaks of a time and food in life that in the 80s was a decadent family meal and now anyone in their 20s wouldn’t know what a vol-au-vent even was. It is that nostalgia and that heart that I truly love about this place. And as all my grandparents have now passed it’s nice to know I can go somewhere and feel warm and happy by the delicious food in a place that is an homage to multicultural grandparental food.Full review is now up on Spooning Australia. Great concept with great food and family friendly. It is a warehouse style casual restaurant where they have a kids corner in the front area and a herb garden to the side with an emphasis on home-style cooking and baking. They offer delicious pitas and pastries/borekas (you can even order frozen ones which you can bake in the oven at home). We came for brunch and ordered off the breakfast menu. They seem to specialise in shakshuka's with 6-7 different options on the menu. We tried both the classic and the beef option which were both delicious! Staff were also friendly and efficient.
We had some vegetarians and omnivors in our group and everyone walked away satisfied. Sat outside on a nice sunny day. It was very crowded and we were told we couldn't reserve a table ahead of time. The service was a bit slow and they required us to pay in advance when we placed the order. The foods for 6 of us costed about $100, then the deserts and tea costed about $70. The dishes we had with humus and beef, humus and spinach, egg dishes. The turmeric bread was good.
Happy to wait 20 minutes for table. Not happy to wait a further 1 hour 30 minutes and still food hadn't arrived. Ended up leaving and we weren't the only customers who left because food hadn't arrived. Our 2 other guests ended up going around the corner to another establishment and had lunch served in 10mins. When you see other customers who were seated after you getting their lunch and leaving before you, you do wonder what happened to our order.
There's really nothing on the breakfast menu for vegans unless you remove a heap of ingredients and then it's not worth the money (neither is it proper nutrition). I was late enough in the morning that the kitchen let me order off the lunch menu but it was a cause for consternation. Although, my meal was lovely. Réservez une table maintenant
Large open space seating over 40 in industrial ambience. Clean. Casual eatery. Food is good and basic, lots of variations on mince. Tasty soup. You can purchase frozen meals here as well at reasonable prices.
But service below standards, third time in a row. Maybe only on weekends but still... food with no salt still tolerable but staff with no knowledge on dishes and ingredients... really...

"I was satisfied with the food. Burgers are between $14.90 and $15.90. The drinks are more expensive than other places, and the free Wi-Fi is slow and stops working intermittently."
