I am so glad my aunts bought a house in Barrington so I am regularly in the area can easily stop by Grapes Grains. They have an incredible selection- like if Astor Place Wines in Manhattan was distilled (ha! down to just the best of the best. Bottles are diversely fairly priced. The staff is helpful in the kind of way that makes me want to become a regular (which I am well on my way to being . I can't speak to the beer selection but I assume it's just as thoughtfully selected. This is the kind of wine store I would want to open.

Some minutes in search of something specific, while the 3 employees went from us, chatting with each other loudly, and totally ignored us. We were the only customers in the store and they never even made eye contact with us. Maybe it was the fact that we are a visibly queer couple?

Stopped in for a last-minute Christmas present, left with a whole case of wine because the selection was so good. Staff was extremely knowledgeable and helped steer me in the right direction. Hands down the best wine shop on the East Bay.

I love this place and the excellent customer service.As soon as I walk I'm the door,the friendly salespeople greet me and let me know my favorite beer is in stock!
