Great British Chippy

After salivating at the thought of scampi and chips we set about the drive to Currumbine to visit this place.I was a bit stunned at the price - $35 for scampi & chips, cod roe & chips, a curry sauce and two waters. As you will see from the photos presentation is not their strong point, then again nor is cooking.What we receivers was reconstituted over cooked scampi that was drier that I care to say, served with utterly tasteless chips. The cod roe was a small roe cake that was burnt on the underside and just awful.This truly was a terrible meal. I don't know what is worse the disappointment or the knowledge that I paid $35 for that anomination.On the plus side, there is a dome near by so you...

.... and this was nothing like a British Chippy. I ordered Haddock & Chips. The fish itself was very good, a fair-sized portion, but the batter is nothing like British batter. It's very thin and soft compared with the puffy, crispy batter you get in the UK. Also the chips had lots of the potato 'eyes' left in them, black parts of the potato which we were unable to eat, also lots of the chips were small, hard, bits of potato which were not at all pleasant to eat. So I would say, the food was OK, I've awarded 3 stars simply because the haddock itself was nice. The food was OK, but if you're looking for a genuine 'Great British Chippy' this place will probably leave yo disappointed.

made a special trip here whilst visiting Perth , had heard it was nice!... First impressions was that it was lovely and clean, menu had a good selection, and the young lady serving us was polite and efficient. Our order was cod and chips mushy peas and curry sauce..... i have to say our food was great, hot, good portion size and all our meals arrived together . The price was very reasonable and it was heaven to eat fish n chips as its meant to be!.... Our family will call again next time we visit Perth!!!!

I believe that the chips are cooked in LARD !!They are very disappointing, soggy and limp and maybe they do taste like chips cooked in the 1950s, but even in the UK no decent chippy uses Lard any more. Chips should be crisp on the outside and soft on the inside and this can only be achieved by double cooking.Fish is usually OK but I don't want to travel to two places to get my fish & chips. Sooo good I had to write.Glad we found this place as the haddock n chips reminded me of home. Added bonus is the Bistro with a varied choice for an evening meal. Great, friendly and professional service; choice of mouthwatering cakes too.Wish we had found it sooner but next time we're in Town we'll definitely be back!

After my first visit I thought they were tasty and half decent, at least the chips weren't frozen. The second visit - Oh my! Chips were scatty bits of potatoes, fish was so thin it had little taste, very poor and disappointing, so still searching for a decent Fishy over here

We tried this fish and chip shop for the second time ... still disappointed. The fish was not too bad, but the chips ... soggy, tasteless and reheated. $15 per serve is outrageous for such second rate fish and chips.

We visit for take out on a near weekly basis. Love everything on the menu. The staff are so friendly and helpful. On my way there now for this weeks fix of the best curry sauce in town! Réservez une table maintenant

Fantastic Cod and chips, Cod size hangs off the plate and the batter is crispy and not oily. great service and you even get a cup of Tea?

This used to be good but today chips were inedible, so called steak pie was gelatinous goo with specks of meat dog fodder
