This is a pretty refreshing place to lunch; small for covers, about 40, wooden floor which makes for bistro noise, very vibrant staff talking the scene, pouring rain outside, wintry thoughts (for a subtropical city), tables rapidly filling, no fuss but getting the job done by waitstaff, immediate attention, wine comes with plates; so the place was humming on a good note. Two of us went to Greenglass for weekday lunch. It is a quirky venue located above what looks like a strip club, which leads to a somewhat cautious approach. Once in the venue all doubt and concerns vanish - it is the perfect lunch venue. The décor is a bit minimalist with a polished hardwood floor and high ceilings (making it a bit noisy) and simple furniture (tables or seats at the bar). Tried Greenglass after walking past its door frontage 100s of times and blinking. This place is understated, there's no big signage out the front, access up the stairs opens out to a big open and airy seating area overlooking a Chinese elm tree at the back and the busy George street in the front, perfect for a private lunch. Kind of a Manhattan feel. The menus are minimalist, change regularly and there's access to a range of wines selected by the glass. The food was good too, service relaxed and understated.
Up a nondescript staircase, you are greeted by friendly staff and welcomed into the minimally designed dining room. The menu is simple but covered the important stuff. We started with the croquettes, which were fantastic and more than enough to share. We then had the quail and the steak, both of which were absolutely delicious. The star of the night was dessert, a strawberry sponge arrangement. It was amazing and the perfect end to a lovely dinner.Not expensive for the quality or experience.

Based on the previous reviews by "tripsters", we thought that it was worth a try! We were not disappointed and all really enjoyed our separate lunches (fried chicken and the pork dish). The only improvement that we agreed about was for more options on the menu as some of the group have food (meat) restrictions due to religious beliefs. But overall the food, ambience and service was faultless. Keep up the great work.

Up the set of stairs is quite a nice little restaurant area. We were seated quickly and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The menu changes daily and that makes the experience very exciting. We ordered a tagliatelle with meatballs and a Fish Burger. The food was lovely and quite filling for lunch. The price is quite reasonable.
Easy to miss but the climb up the old timber staircase is worth it to find the bright airy upstairs dining room. Breakfast was delicious and lunch menu looks really good so will be back to try that. Staff & service very goodGood spot for a business meet over a coffee although it can be a bit noisy with one big open room and hard surfaces.

Just perfect: elegant and simple decor which is perfect for the location and outstanding service. As good as that is the wine list perfectly selected and the simple menu genius! Calamari salad a perfect score and the rose wine suggested by the waiter the perfect companion to the dish. Can't wait to return!
