Gubel - Réserver une table

We parked our car in the public parking lot in Gubel and went on a circular hike over the summit of Neuenalpspitz. After more than 7 hours we arrived in Gubel sweaty and exhausted. The Gubel kiosk, which seemed inviting from afar, seemed like a small miracle to us. A really great design of the kiosk immediately surprises and invites you to linger. You can get to the shop via a small ladder. There you can find water, beer, soft drinks and even coffee. Much of it chilled in a small refrigerator. We went there ona Sunday for lunch, my husband, my mother in law both are Swiss) and our three kids: 5 year old and twins of 19 months. I’ve reserved a table with 2 high chairs. Upon arrival all seemed perfect, we sat and the waitress took our order and the twins were happily clapping on the table waiting for the food to come. None of my kids was crying or screaming, only clapping. The owner came to us and asked us to move to the back room “where we could be alone”, he said that the restaurant was a place to read, read and talk. Maggie Odermatt (front of the house, formerly in charge of service at the cult restaurant Kaiser Franz in Zug) and Lydia Michel (who used to run another excursion restaurant) have given the Gubel a new lease of life! Situated above the fog that covers Zug for long stretches of the year, they have re opened the restaurant and are targeting day trippers, walkers, people looking for some sun shine over the clouds. Relaxing glass of wine and plate of chips after a afternoon hike up the hill. Very nice end to a lovely afternoon out walking with friends. Very polite and fredndly reception on arrival and very accommodating since it was a busy Saturday night.
