I’m unfortunately downgrading my rating since I feel the quality of the food has declined. While the prices have increased, the quality and portion sizes seem to have diminished. None of the dishes we tried were remarkable. The ribeye was good but not exceptional, especially for its $65 price tag, and the presentation was underwhelming. The trout was at least 30% smaller than before and overcooked. The artichokes, which used to be a highlight when in season, were over-steamed or boiled before grilling, and the remoulade or dipping sauce tasted more like a makeshift steak sauce mixed with mustard or horseradish—a real disappointment. **September 2023 Update** I previously highly recommende...
I simply can't comprehend the choice to restrict reservations to just four people. What’s the reasoning behind this? This restaurant used to be a family favorite, but since we have five members, it no longer works for us. They've also made some changes to the menu and updated the interior décor, which now feels a bit less upscale, unfortunately. I’ll still stop by for the coleslaw, but I find that their sister restaurants, South Beverly Grill and Honor Bar, are a bit better. It’s disappointing to see these changes, but I’ll continue to visit.
On a different visit, I enjoyed a steak filet that was absolutely fantastic—tender and full of flavor. The sole paired with coleslaw was also excellent; I requested it to be cooked in pure butter, which made it even better. The staff here is wonderful, and since we visit often, they know us pretty well now. I’m happy to give them back a star for their service. The lemon meringue dessert is delicious, and the smoked salmon is perfectly smoked and very tasty. Don’t miss out on their new grilled oysters; they are a must-try!
Emily and Dallas at the bar are outstanding! They have such a positive and upbeat vibe, and they're very knowledgeable about the menu. Emily's recommendations were absolutely perfect! The food was fantastic — the grouper sandwich was amazing! I even enjoyed the kale salad, and I'm not usually a fan of kale. Plus, they had Reinsdorf Kölsche, which is hard to find. A Newport staple- great for lunch or dinner- food is consistently good, service is fantastic, and always busy. Bar, dining room, or patio seating as well as another outdoor area for drinks. The biscuits are amazing, artichokes as well (when in season) for lunch try to chopped vegetable salad or crab cake salad, you won’t be disappointed.
This is one of the top places in all of Orange County and undoubtedly a favorite in Newport Beach. The seasonal artichoke is outstanding, and the smoked trout is a must-try appetizer. The salmon is always cooked to perfection, and the New Orleans Barbecue Shrimp is fantastic. You really can't make a bad choice from the menu!
