I recently moved to the area and was eager to check out Gwar Bar because I'm a fan of the band. The atmosphere was fantastic, the drinks were excellent, the bartenders were very attentive, and the food was delicious. I tried the cheesy tater tots and let me tell you, they were amazing! They had a delicious smoky bacon flavor infused in the cheese. They also offer vegan options, which is a nice touch. There's something for everyone here. I definitely recommend this place.
I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. I have been a fan of GWAR for a long time and was pleasantly surprised to discover they had a bar in Richmond. The bar lived up to my expectations and had everything you would expect from a place owned by GWAR. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the beer selection is pretty standard. Don't expect anything too unique; it would be great if they offered a GWAR branded beer option.
Not only the perfect place for drinks but food as well! I have visited Richmond VA from CT three times so far specifically because this place is so amazing. It doesn't matter if you like GWAR or not (but as a fan it certainly elevates the experience due to the various stage props and artwork on display in and around the bar), this is THE place to go for food and drink in Richmond! Great low-key vibe and friendly staff. I'll be back again next year!
I’m a regular here and used to work here. Loved this place ever since I celebrated my 21st here. It’s now my second home and first choice to go out to. I feel super safe here, even as someone in the LGBTQ+ community. Everyone that’s a regular or works here is genuinely amazing when you get to know them, and reviews that say otherwise are most likely people who were rude! Réservez une table maintenant
Was excited to go here because of Gwar and also the vegan options. Love the atmosphere, but the food was sadly underwhelming. I got a friend tofu sandwich with buffalo sauce, but the tofu was basically a hunk of uncooked, unseasoned tofu with a thin layer of crisp on the outside. Please rethink how you cook that--vegans like spice and flavor too ;p
Incredible food! Love looking at the art as well. But the food? damn! I went again for Mother?s Day with my kids (so we went early before bar crowd came in) because I wanted everyone to eat without complaining and this fit the bill. You have to order your food at the bar now, but staff was quick and efficient with it. Everyone was happy!
I had a great time at this cozy restaurant. If you enjoy the music they play, you will love it here. The restaurant is quite small, but the food was delicious and the staff was very friendly.

very delicious, but very heavy and missed the brand on the ranch imo. the ranch tastes more like Alfredo sauce. cauliflower tacos met a run for my partner.

"Best Hot Dog I've had since i left NYC. Fat, juicy and perfectly spiced. Amazing Sauerkraut as well. Chicken grilled pita and another chicken sandwich were outstanding. Really good meal enjoyed by all."
