Gyu-kaku Japanese Bbq

This was our first time trying out this Japanese BBQ and we were pleasantly impressed. We made reservations ahead of time so seating was not an issue and reservations are recommended. Being used to Korean BBQ this was very similar in the fact that you cook your own food on a tableside grill. Most of the meats are not marinated but 3 different dipping sauces are provided on the table for your liking. The portion sizes were pretty good and the side dishes were great. Our server 's name I believe was Pono and he was exceptional! We brought with us a fresh uncut pineapple and he asked the kitchen if they could slice it up for us(something they don 't normally do . They obliged and we ended up grilling pineapple on our grill as well which was phenomenal! Very happy with the food, ambience, service and hospitality from Pono. We will be returning in the future :

Great experience, high quality and quantity food for the price. Lots of gluten free options. Restaurant was energetic/busy, but staff were very attentive. Definitely recommend making reservations.

It was a new experience and we loved it! Our server was very helpful with it being our first time and our food was phenomenal. Definitely recommend it for the experience alone!

Really good food. Gave recommended cook times and the sides were great. Portion sizes for the course meals are rather large. Come Hungry.

Excellent service and great quality meat. Fun for family or date night. Great value, especially here in Hawaii.
