As newcomers to the area, we decided to try Ha la for lunch yesterday. Being big fans of sushi, we were disappointed with our experience. We ordered several rolls, including the dragon and the spider, and were surprised at how small they were considering their prices of $20 and $19, respectively. The soft shell crab in my spider roll was overcooked and a dark brown color, and it tasted like it had been sitting out for a while. On a positive note, the service was excellent, but with only two other tables occupied, that was to be expected. Perhaps the quiet atmosphere should have raised some red flags about the quality of the food. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning.
This is an excellent neighborhood spot for sushi and serves as our go-to place in the Danville/Alamo area. The ingredients are consistently fresh, and they offer the best miso soup around. The staff is very attentive and friendly. To-go orders are neatly packed and double-checked for accuracy. Our kids always request to order from our 'regular sushi place' whenever they're craving Ha-La Sushi.
I visited this restaurant for the first time and found the food to be decent. However, I went there tonight to order takeout and waited for 10 minutes without any assistance. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning.
I always have a fantastic dining experience at Ha-La, thanks to their outstanding service. The Toro was especially remarkable. Food rating: 5/5.

By far my favorite sushi spot in the East Bay! Staff is great and Ken is the best! 10/10 would recommend.
