I scanned the recent reviews and noticed a recurring problem poor customer service. I now understand why. Today, 4/22/23, I came into the store at around 12:58 PM. There was no one in the store except one person waiting for an order. Before I could reach the register, a young lady stated loudly, I hope they don 't come in at 12:58 PM expecting to get sandwiches. I looked at the clock, it was 12:58 PM and saw a small sign far behind the register saying Grill closes at 1:00 PM with the 1:00 PM handwritten over another time that must have been on the sign. I visited this establishment on a whim; it was the closest eatery within walking distance. I went inside and was a bit perplexed by the layout of the store; there was a pickup area near the entrance and an order window near the rear of the store.Regardless I was too smitten by hunger to delve further into the layout; I stood on the growing order line ahead of me, and when I got to the window, there were menus everywhere on the walls and handwritten notes taped next to some menus to indicate if an item was out of stock. I 've been coming here a long time and the bagels, service, and general apathy of the employees is getting worse. No one is friendly, no one is communicative. I ordered two bagels today and one was burned and the other was hard. I was handed my bag, the girl said thank you, I walked out, got in my car, and realized she had shorted me the second bagel. I went back in and asked where the second bagel was, the other girl at the counter was just asking everyone, does anyone have a plain buttered bagel for this woman and the girl that I had given my order to just walked right by her without a word. The Vegetable Cream Cheese was tasty with actual pieces of veggies, and the bagel was decent. However, the customer service was terrible. I had to wait each time and was ignored while the staff gossiped until someone finally assisted me. The female owner or manager was extremely rude to her employees, which was unacceptable. It is not appropriate for younger college-aged individuals to be spoken to in such a manner. I believe that respect should be given in order to receive it. I will not be returning to this restaurant.
Order placed at 12 Noon. Bagel large and tasty but not soft. Must have been sitting in basket for a while. No low fat cream cheese available. Hard to believe. Had to wait for a new pot of decaf coffee to be made. Lots of employees in store but only a few available to help the few customers in store. Rest of employees doing other things. Finally, they charge more for the same food if ordered past their cutoff time. That doesn’t seem consumer friendly to me.
