When I first visited Happy Family Inn back in 2013 it blew me away with how amazing the food was and how friendly the staff were, now is 2015 and the food has gone down in quality a little and now the staff just sort of "go through the motions".
Looking past these two things this place is still my favourite Chinese in Perth by far, the quality of the dishes is just far beyond anything you will find in the suburbs and does well considering it's in the same area as the two juggernauts "Uncle Billys" and "Billy Lees" and manages to take them to school in almost every aspect except for restaurant size of course.
Now the food, they have all the basics you will find in any Chinese and much more...

Très déçu de la vaisselle de ce soir en ce qui concerne les portions. Nous avions du bœuf bouilli et des légumes marinés avec des intestins mixtes. Le bœuf bouilli; Vous payiez littéralement 80% de 16 $ (environ) pour les becs de haricots, tandis que le reste représentait la quantité de bœuf placée - seulement comme 10 tranches maximales de petit boeuf? Pire encore pour les intestins ...

Very disappointed with tonight's dishes in regards to the portions. We had boiled beef and pickled vegetables w/ mixed intestines. The boiled beef; you were paying literally 80% of $16 (approx) for the bean spouts whereas the rest accounted for the amount of beef put in there - only like 10 max slices of small beef? Even worse for the intestines...

Le serveur nous a servi avec de la collation de craquements de poisson juste après notre table. Nous étions réellement comme le goût de la nourriture au début, mais nous n'avions compris que de nombreuses petites bouchées d'os dans la nourriture et c'était vraiment si ennuyeux et inacceptable!

Randomly walked into this restaurant for dinner because we would like to try something different as we have been tried the surrounding Chinese restaurants.
The waiter served us with some fish cracker snack right after we got our table. We were actually like the taste of food at first, but only realised that there were many SMALL BITES OF BONES in the food and it was really so annoying and unacceptable!
Been served with cut watermelon at the end and were thinking if there is any charge on those snacks and fruits. The answer is YES! *there is no such thing as free lunch*

Je suis ici plusieurs fois maintenant et cet endroit est vraiment compatible avec la qualité de la nourriture! Le poulet citron est un must essai. La seule chose que je déteste, c'est comment fumer est autorisé à l'extérieur; C'est une telle petite boutique et osciller à travers la porte. Le personnel a également bouffé dans la porte, mais ils peuvent aussi bien fumer à l'intérieur de toute la différence qu'il fait!
