Ordered a take away from this restaurant. When I arrived to collect it on a Friday night the restaurant was empty but with lots if people collecting take away meals, so I anticipated a good meal when I arrived home. What a disaster!!!! The Satay prawns consisted of raw onions and opaque prawns! It was nasty! The chicken and vegetables was a little bit better in that at least the chicken was cooked through, but once again the vegetables were raw - and the green beans and carrots tasted old and woody.I rang the restaurant and I complained about the meal and to their credit they offered to replace it for me, but to be honest I was at this stage no longer in the mood for eating Chinese, so I dec...
Over the years I have been going to both Happy Garden and Kam Fay. I have to say that Happy Garden trumps it, as the quality of the food at Kam Fay has been on the decline over the year.The food at Happy Garden is authentic Chinese Food, and is both always hot and delicious! I would highly recommend the Sweet and Sour Pork, the Sizzling Mongolian Beef and the Honey Chicken. They're Chinese New Year Banquet was also very good.The staff there are very friendly and provide a great service. There is little better on a cool winter's evening than to have your dinner served on a sizzling metal dish. We followed the chef's advice and selected the Mongolian lamb as well as the lamb fillet in black pepper sauce. This was an amazing choice washed down with St Hallet's Faith shiraz and your heart is warm, belly is full, and the taste sensation remains in your pallet.The restaurant always has tables available, service is quick and parking readily available.
Took ages for the meal to arrive. The Mongolian beef was delicious, but I had to ask for rice (the waiter didn't ask when we ordered). The dim sims were dry, horrible in fact. I was told they were a popular dish - had to ask for soy sauce. Only ate half of one dim sim, told the waiter, still he made up pay for them. Not happy! The food is nice and well prepared, with a few exceptions in the entrees. The service is ok. The main problem is that is a big place and the air conditioned do not works properly, and this is a problem than happens for years and with the scorching temperatures we have in Queensland, it spoils your meal. The day we were there was a table that changes four times just trying to find a spot where they can cool.
I was a little apprehensive when i saw the reviews on TA for this place, however, maybe we got luck or something has changed as we ordered a fair amount of take away food and we could not fault a single dish. It was all tasty, hot and used fresh ingredients. The restaurant itself looked sterile and soulless though.
