First, I'm gonna say that for the same price and portion, this is the best bbq short ribs you'll get from a chain Hawaiian bbq restaurant. Each piece is the half the size of a regular container. Very meaty, not chewy, perfect amount of fat, and the bones are small. Also, I asked for veggies instead of all the sides in my combo because I'm on keto, and they gave me broccoli, which is exactly what I want! I appreciate that. I used to visit this restaurant all the time because their food was incredibly delicious and they offered generous portions. However, during my last two visits, I've noticed that the portion sizes seem to have shrunk. I ordered the BBQ chicken, and it looked nothing like BBQ—it's very light, without any char. I really love this place, but it feels like they’re skimping on cooking the food properly and reducing portions. (Or maybe I'm just eating too much!)
Hawaiian Drive Inn used to be really good. The fried fish plate $11.50 felt flimsy and the taste was missing good fried fish characteristics. For example, they used their tonkatsu breading. They should have chose a lighter flour batter with beer and sparkling water to make a nice, light, crispy piece of fish. The pieces were on the small and thin side, meaning I'm eating more batter than fish. A batter that I didn't care for. Service was fine.

Underrated place in my opinion:Their burgers are so flipping good. It doesn't matter which one, onions or without onions. Service is considerably fast and the ambience is nice and compact. There are tiny flying nats or flies but they aren't really a big issue
The staff was very friendly. I was pleasantly surprised to find two enticing dishes on the menu: (1) Chili mix plate and (2) Kalua pork. It was a tough choice, but I ultimately decided to go with the Kalua pork. It was incredibly delicious! Food: 4/5
Great portions at affordable prices. Got the BBQ chicken plate and it was delicious. The lady behind the counter was nice enough to let me use their bathroom as well. Would recommend giving them a try if you're in the area.
Extremely frustrated. I ordered kalua pork and didn’t check it until I got home, only to find out that it’s not shredded.
