The Heurigen of Austria come at different levels. The Mayerei is a relatively simple country Heurigen in the garden town of Schiltern just a bit north of the Danube city of Krems and northwest of Langenlois in Lower Austria (Niederösterreich). One will not find the fancy garden buffets of, say, Gumpoldskirchen in the Wienerwald south of Vienna, nor should one expect to. Schiltern is a small town and the nearest city of any size is Krems, which is small. In that perspective, the Mayerei is everything one could expect from a Heurigen in the countryside.
