Updated review. We stopped going to this restaurant simply because their customer service declined heavily. The last 3 times we went to dine here, we were rushed out. They post their hours are open til 9pm. We would arrive at 8pm for dinner, be seatedimmediately, asked for our order within minutes of sitting down, all food and drinks would be on the table within 10min and thebill would be brought to our table after our first bite. Employees and chefs would stand there starring at us. And every few minsomeone would come by to ask if our payment was ready. They would close down the restaurant before we were done w our meal. Itwas quite obvious patrons are not welcome to dine closer to close ti...

This is now our go to sushi place in Redwood City. It’s been here 5 years…how are we just finding it?We sat at the sushi bar and we were very well taken care of by the guy (with great hair) preparing the sushi. We told him to surprise us and he served up deliciousness.Blue fin tuna, striped something from Japan, ocean trout, Japanese blue fish, hamachi toro, blue fin medium belly, salmon roll, San Francisco roll, another roll, salmon, shrimp nigiriI thought it was reasonably priced given what we ordered. We were there about 11:45 and we were the first ones there. We sat at the sushi bar and when we left, there were a few other occupied tables.Parking is tight.
We thought we'd try a new place and can't say we'll be back. Tempura appetizer was super doughy and missing that crunch that makes for great tempura. The Santa Barbara Uni had a metallic taste which probably means it wasn't as fresh as it could be, which is why I always order the Santa Barbara over Japanese Uni whenever it's available. The other nigiri wasn't much better. The Uni-Iku-Kimo was okay even with the truffle oil. I've had the same dish at other places and was executed much better. The Veggie Dragon roll was just the saddest looking roll and didn't taste much better.Hikari means light or shine in Japanese but sadly this wasn't a bright spot.
This is my favorite local spot for sushi. The quality of the fish, the attentive service, and the atmosphere are better than any other sushi restaurant in the area. It's not overly fancy, and there are plenty of families dining in booths. Noise is not a problem. If you're dining alone or with one other person, I recommend sitting at the sushi bar - they will take great care of you! My tip: always tip the sushi bar staff separately in cash from the bill. They must have changed something in the menu for the price you pay, you get very small sushi. 2 of the 3 rolls you see in the picture is a ?special roll? for which you pay $16. Compare that to the California roll (at the bottom) which is supposed to besmall. It?s the same size. Very disappointed. We will not order again.
Cute, quaint, cozy and enjoyable. We had to wait 10 minutes to be seated, but we were well taken care of after we sat in our private booth. Expect a 4.2 of 5 price range due to its popular Redwood City location. However, the food quality andpresentation is worth the extra buck. Service was 'over the top! '
I was looking for a quick bite and decided to order for delivery here and it came fairly quick. I really enjoyed the rainbow roll and the hamachi toro 2 piece. The hamachi toro was amazing I just wish the rainbow roll was a bit more in the size for the price but overall it was good.
The fish quality was top-notch and the amount of sushi rice was perfect. The grilled skewers were delicious, especially the chicken skin, and the pork neck meat was exceptional. Overall food rating: 4 out of 5. Réservez une table maintenant
Their sushi is good. Their skewers are enjoyable. The staff is friendly and the decor is no nonsense modern.Appetizers came out after the warm dishes, and the cheesecake was still frozen when we got it, though.
This restaurant offers excellent fish with a good variety. If you're looking for high-quality fish like nigiri and sashimi on the peninsula, this is a great option.
