Visited for a surprise 70th birthday, table booked from 3pm for approx 25 persons. There were a couple of under age in attendance and we were told in advance they would need to leave by 6pm. We were offered table service, which turned out to be really quite slow, having to continuously chase our orders. There was also a problem with their card machines with cards being declined. (No fault with the cards). At 6pm staff told us we needed to change our table, as there was another booking, the table they gave us was the same size as the one we had been using, why the need to change ?? Unfortunately, today we had a terrible experience at the hb. led by a team member who clearly had no desire to work in gastronomy. the place was quiet and we waited for more minutes for our eating, that was very bad; fat fish...and warm-ish chips, tartrate sauce from a bottle and style over substance on a dish. when the server interacted with us and saw that I had left more than half the fish, reacted with “earning to hear that” when I said that eating was “underpowering” and did not frighten us to see us in the eye. Absolutely gorgeous location in the heart of the West End fairy lights, good tunes, a great chilled out vibe and even a table tennis cage too! Vegan options are plentiful and delicious loads of seitan dishes on the menu and I loved my doner kebab. Very Scottish cocktails with interesting combos. Not the cheapest but well worth it. Could do with more vegan dessert options (only choice is a vegan cheeseboard). Brunch menu looks amazing with lots of sweet and savoury vegan choices will be back asap! Not sure of her name but I asked the girl behind the bar (blonde, maybe 5ft6ish to surprise me with a drink and she made a strawberry mojito with lemonade instead of soda water and it was one of the best drinks I've had on a night out in a long time and for that reason alone I believe Hillhead Bookclub needs a 5 star rating. She mentioned she worked at a different pub and was covering for the night, but I never got her name, whoever you were, you are a god send. Hats off to you, made a good evening a great evening :

This was a cute bar until we sat down and ordered a drink at the bar. My fiance was wearing a make America great again hat that was grey. She told us to take the hat off because it’s political …. And which stating you want your country is great is not a political hat if they had a hat like that in Scotland that said make Scotland great again no one would care it is quite insane and would reccomend people to stay out of a place that feels the need to have power and control what people are wearing
As an American. This was the worst pub I have been to in Scotland and I have been to a ton. The blond bartender could not have been more rude and I had a fly in my drink!!!!! I think they discriminated against me because I was an American. Stay FAR AWAY! In fact RUN
A super fun and quirky spot in Glasgow’s West End with a unique vintage interior and lively atmosphere. Great for drinks, games, and hanging out with friends. Food is decent. come for the vibe, and events. Can get busy!
The staff were wonderful. The gentleman at the bar noticed that the drink he had made for me wasn't quite right, so he kindly brought me another one on the house. Exceptional service!
