We visited this restaurant due to the great reviews and expected overaverage food with some twists. The dishes on the menu sounded great, the location was nice (we sat in a inner yard, a kind of a Biergarten) and the service was friendly. Everything started...fine and they even had a Belgian beer on the drink menu. When the food came, unfortunately, our satisfaction decreased more and more. My starter, a carpaccio on a typical German/Hesse sausage, was apparently not freshly sliced but already bought in slices which made the taste very industrial. This is a must see restaurant, if you want to try some German food. As the owners described it to us, this restaurant is over years old and they took over about years ago. Since then, they sort of brought it into century. The food is delicious. It's a good mix of local food with a touch of international ideas. What you have to try, if you visit, is the Äppelwoi (apple wine). As for the food, there is plenty to choose from. Be sure, whatever you pick, you won't be disappointed. We picked Hock's for my farewell dinner this year. A few towns over from Bad Vilbel it was a quick ride there and parking was no problem. Hock's has different dining rooms and outdoor seating as well. The rooms have different decors and the ambiance...is very nice. We sat in the covered outside patio. For appetizer I had the bread with a Tartar spread, it was absolutely delicious and also very filling. Main was salad and steak with mushrooms and also very nice. My sister had the full portion of tartar for her main course. Service was good and we received some complimentary schnaps after our meal. Great night, wonderful food and I'm looking forward to my next visit.
We went with a party of four, plus two dogs, and since I hadn't mentioned the dogs when we made the reservation, we weren't sure whether this would be okay, but it turned out surprisingly fine. Soon after we had been directed to our table,...the dogs were offered water and some snacks. This was pure luxury for them. Two of us had starters, delivered promptly and nicely done, and the main courses were just delicious. We will certainly come again and enjoy the hospitality and very good service.

We enjoyed a great family dinner at Hock's last night. The menu has a great variety of dishes and the drink menu rocks. Make sure you bring cash as they don't take plastic. Yet they have a great way of dealing with it as you...can leave your name and drop of the money a few days later. A great way of dealing with the issue. Overall great place with a super friendly crew and very attentive young owners.
The food at Hock's would be considered exceptional by any standard. If you travel anywhere within kilometers you owe it to yourself to eat there. We had a fairly large group and shared our entrees. The pork and red cabbage was a phenomenal dish,...the schnitzel and steak were equally amazing. I'm considering moving to Okarben from the US so that I can eat every meal there
Luckily we got a table which is not an easy task, especially over the weekend. Fabulous, fabulous food yet again! The very genuinly friendly service is particularly enjoyable. Loved the sweets too and then rolled home. Will definitely be back and also try the new...Tapas nights...
Spent a wonderful evening with friends at Hock trying the new Meditos area. Besides the fabulous food that comes in just the right sized portions it is the friendly people and atmosphere that forces us to come back again and again. Keep it up!
