we read good reviews of restaurant hof so decided to try them. after a long day hikes we were glad to have a casual meal outside. none of the waiters who were there spoke all English but were happy to give...us an English menu to add my shady German (google translate is not always sufficient with menus). everything we ordered was very good and more like home cooking. the brown brot, delicious mixed salad and spaghetti bolognese were very well prepared. we would go back.
a woman from the business near the railway station recommended this restaurant. the beef-stroganoff was delicious. flan for dessert was also good. beautiful waitress. many locals seemed to eat here. we stood as tourist. many people in the restaurant greeted us. Four older men gave us a photo of them with the traditional Swiss audiance.
We had dinner at Restaurant Hof on our one night in Appenzell. Like everything in Switzerland, it wasn't cheap. The service was pleasant and the food was pretty good. Only disappointment was my rosti which was swimming in cheese and was quite greasy. The rest...of the food was very nice though.
that was the only place where we could find that racket and fondue would serve for one. we were pleasantly surprised by the good quality of both. the prices were also appropriate for the Swiss. Réservez une table maintenant
