"I don’t eat seafood but my husband loves it, a friend recommended this place because they had both seafood and grilled cheese. I had: Grilled Cheese – (Cow Girls’ Mezzo Secco, cave-aged Gruyere and Fromage Blanc served with house made pickled vegetables) This was very very good. I was a little nervous to try the cheese, but it was sooo good with the bread."

Been here way too many times to count but this is truly my favorite restaurant in SF. You cannot go wrong with the clam chowder!! That’s a must and it is best clam chowder you can have and believe me, I’ve tried it in many places all over the US including the clam chowder in Seattle. Also, you must get the oysters here. It’s more on the expensive side but it’s always so fresh and delicious! Also make sure to get the bread and butter… carbs overload but it goes well with the clam chowder. All of their other dishes are really good to so try other items if you are really hungry.

Venturing into Hog Island Oyster Co. with my wife and rambunctious toddler in tow, I half-expected a seafood showdown, but boy was I shell-shocked! The oysters, fresher than my toddler after a nap, slid down easier than a bedtime story. The ambiance? Let 's just say if oysters had living rooms, they 'd want them to look like this. And the staff? They catered to our every whim, showing the patience of a saint when little Timmy decided to demonstrate his 'seafood dance '. 10/10 would recommend. If you don 't visit, you 're simply clams out of luck!

Great experience. If you don’t mind sitting inside, there is no wait even when it’s busy. The line keeps moving quickly anyway, so don’t be discouraged. Service is quick and you’re stuffing your face full of good food quickly. You have to get the blue fin ceviche. Grilled oysters with the bourbon butter was great and they come in fours. We got the 24 raw oysters for $82 and it was a perfect amount for two people. You have to try to clam chowder! The sweet watermelon beer was very tasty.

I love a good oyster. Although you can go around the corner on Saturdays and pick up a dozen Kumamotos from the farm’s stall at the farmer’s market for super cheap (4 dozen for $50), you could also plop yourself down at the bar in the Ferry Building and have a nice sparkling wine or sauvignon blanc with your oysters. Nothing beats it. Oh, and if you have a dog, you can sit outside and enjoy your oysters in the sun with your pup. Much added bonus.
