Stopped into Hoku this evening on a whim to pick up some dinner. I've heard pretty good things about this place and always love me some Hawaiian BBQ, so thought I would give Hoku a try. I ordered a 2 item combo with chicken katsu and fried shrimp. A lot of food enough for two meals! Came nicely packaged with a neat baggie of utensils, napkins, and yummy sauces soy, SIRACHAAA, katsu sauce, and some type of creamy sauce for the shrimp. Everything here is delicious, and the portions are generous, neatly packed in high-quality, microwave-safe, BPA-free reusable containers. This restaurant has considered every detail, including dietary restrictions, with gluten-free options and easy keto/paleo alternatives available. Located in a pleasant strip mall, there is plenty of parking. Additionally, the food is great for kids!
Fantastic food. Chicken was cooked perfectly. Tasted great. Large portions. Friendly staff. Clean interior. The bbq chicken katsu combo was really good. They have really good Mac salad. Wait for food was very reasonable. Did not have to ask for sauce or anything else. Food was packaged nicely and nothing spilled out on the way back to the hotel. Prices were reasonable.
I ordered through DoorDash and was really disappointed. The chicken I received was boiled instead of grilled, and it was bland and excessively peppery. It looked nothing like the images shown on their website or in previous customer reviews. I suspect they might have had a new or careless staff member trying to rush the order before closing time.

This is a fantastic restaurant! I make sure to stop by every time I'm in town. The spam musubi is incredibly delicious! I usually order the 2 or 3-item plate, which comes with generous portions and sauces on the side. The rice and macaroni salad are always excellent. Plus, the prices are very reasonable for the quality of food.
The curry was lacking salt, and despite being advertised as spicy, it really wasn’t at all. Additionally, the macaroni and cheese was quite watery. Overall, my experience was just okay, but I’m willing to give them another shot and try something else. However, I was really let down by the curry.
The chicken BBQ was pretty good. The beef was just edible. Shrimp was complete over fried. Spam Masubi was hard. Veggie lumpia was good. The cream cheese dipping sause for the Malasadas (10 Pieces)tasted like finger nail polish. Wont be going back.
The chicken katsu was awful. Half was burnt and other half was rubbery and the outer layer was cold and wasn't even stuck to the chicken itself. Seemed to be reheated chicken not fresh Macaroni was ok but could use less mayonnaise and less tuna.

The smoothies are excellent. However, the last two times I ordered, the fish was overcooked and nearly inedible. They really need to work on that. The chicken was decent, but I feel the sauces could use more flavor. Honestly, I prefer L&L.
This is the best Hawaiian BBQ I've had in a long time! I make sure to get the BBQ chicken and katsu at least twice a week. This place never disappoints!
