The last time we visited this restaurant was 20 years ago and we weren’t impressed then. However, now Hong Garden has really found its mojo. The atmosphere is classic 90’s decor except for the fantastic aquariums throughout the dining area. That wait staff is very friendly and helpful and the menu is extensive (as in most Chinese restaurants). Portions are sensible and the quality of the food is excellent, clearly a step up from the average Chinese American restaurant. BYOB. We will definitely add this to our local restaurant rotation! Addendum: Unfortunately there was a fire in this restaurant and it has been under renovation for about two years. We are anxious for it to reopen!
I have come here for over 10 years and the best would be the quality of food and the fact that the restaurant has remained unchanged in its quality. The staff is always so friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxed even if the place is packed for dinner. My favorite dish is her sesame chicken with this amazing homemade sauce that they make for it; it is sweet and it compliments the crispy chicken perfect. You can go wrong with nothing on your menu. Her chicken or shrimp fried rice is delicious and so is her lo-my.
I'm so sorry to learn about her fire! They were always such a friendly and wonderful place to dine. Your food was always fresh / excellent and the people are nice and super friendly. I can't say enough good things about Hong Garden and have gone to them for years. I wanted the best Chinese food. They were always consistently great! I hope they will open up soon and miss them very much. I miss talking to them, they're so much more than just a restaurant, they felt like family.
This is absolutely one of the coolest restaurants in the neighborhood. Whenever I come to this place I am profoundly satisfied. They always keep their very high standard service and the highest level of cooking they serve. You surely will enjoy this this place. Warmly recommended.
