We only live a couple of miles away but always drove into Shefford to New Rays Chinese takeaway, which i might add is bang on for their food. But then somebody told us about the Hong Kong House just outside Shefford. Had to try it and wow, the food was exceptional. My favourite is the Singaporean Chow Mein, extra spicy and couple of other dishes, chips are lovely as well. The flavour was amazing and served up in ten minutes, great staff and efficient. Ten minutes later we were noshing on this lovely stuff! Will now alternate between New Rays and Hong Kong House.
We have ordered from this takeout a few times and have generally liked the food. However, last night's meal was disappointing. The duck and pancakes were passable, but we had to shred the duck ourselves, which is not something we have had to do at other takeout places. The chow mein was bland and had very few king prawns. The satay sauce lacked any cashew nut or coconut flavor and was quite bland, with very few prawns as well. Neither of us enjoyed our food and we do not plan to return. Maybe there was a different chef working that night?
We didn't want to cook on new years eve so we tried this place. Heard great things and we weren't disappointed. As to be expected on new years eve we had to wait. But it was worth it. Delicious food and good portion sizes. I ordered roasted duck chow mein, sweet and sour pork balls, sticky beef, ribs, spring rolls and seaweed. Definitely order again soon. Thank you
I last posted a positive review in 2018, so thought I would do an update to say in 2021 the food is still consistently yummy no matter what we order. It's still great, the staff are still great, helpful and friendly. This town is so lucky to have Hong Kong House. Don't stop what you're doing, you've got it right. Thanks!

We tried this takeaway last night for the first time and it certainly won’t be the last. Everything we ordered was perfectly cooked and tasted amazing. We pre ordered for collection at 7.00 pm and it was ready bang on time. All in all a great experience and we can’t wait to try something different next time.
I ordered food from this restaurant and was told there would be a 40-minute wait. Despite it being busy, I waited for 1 and 1/2 hours before my food was finally ready. Unfortunately, there were no apologies given. It seems that the estimated wait times should be taken with a grain of salt.
The Chinese cuisine at this restaurant is excellent. The staff is always polite and the food is consistently served hot. I highly recommend this place, thank you for the great service!
We use this takeaway when we feel like a Chinese, we have tried different ones in the area ,always ready when given a collection time never been disappointed

We wont eat Chinese from anywhere else. Great food. Good value. Friendly staff. Never had a meal that's anything other than excellent
We enjoyed crispy shredded beef egg fried rice, salt and chilli chips. Special rice. Mixed starter. Collection in 10 minutes
