Truly enjoyed this culinary masterpiece.I stumbled across this gem while searching for a Valentines location for my wife and I. While Valentines reservations weren’t available I was able to secure a reservation on the 10th of February.Horse in the Alley is located where Maxwell’s used to be. Immediately upon entering I was greeted by an attendant who took my name to verify my reservation. In the initial room there is a small bar and a small seating area. Very chic and fashionable.Upon seating my waitress materialized to take my drink order. Both my wife and I are sober but they have an extensive list of wines and spirits to choose from. I had ice tea while she had water. Bread and butter was delivered by the attendant. After a brief review of the menu I decided upon the rib eye, rice pilaf and vegetables while my wife opted for one of three cuts of filet, rice pilaf and vegetables. The food was delivered and in a syllable “wow.” My taste buds had known weeks of disappointment until that lovely meal graced them. Amazing.Things to note:1. The water glasses were kept full by a very active gentleman.2. The ambience is unequaled by any other steakhouse in Bakersfield.3. Casual attire appeared acceptable. However, it’s a fine dining experience so I suggest playing the part.4. The owner was mingling amongst the tables. He was both kind and amiable. Conclusion:From today forward I will be taking the wife to Horse in the Alley for our date nights when preference is steak. Indeed, I have already established my next reservation and I hope that you do as well.
