Discovered this wonderful gem of a place we discovered by accident yesterday. We were looking for Japanese food in El Cerrito and kept passing by this place so we thought we'd give it a try. We ordered Chicken Kara-age which was crisp and not dried out and also Agedashi Tofu which made it home and wasn't soggy! My Boo ordered Pork Tonkatsu which he said was extremely tender and had an egg on top which he said was really good! I ordered their Chirashi Don which was fresh and the sushi rice had a good taste to it! I couldn't help but appreciate the quirky decorations throughout the place, especially the adorable Hello Kitty perched above the kitchen entrance. The menu is impressively extensive, and I found the kids' menu section amusing—I’ll have to look up some of the references when I get home.
On our way out, we noticed a family with a young child whose eyes were wide with wonder at the vibrant decorations; there’s so much to take in! Oh, and they have a loyalty card system where you can collect stamps for a free roll. It's funny because just last night I was watching a K-Drama (My Demon) where a similar card was featured. Seems like fate is playing tricks on me again!
Their fish quality was so poor :(We made the mistake of ordering Sashimi Deluxe and it was a pain to eat it.I obviously didn't expect the highest quality fish from a cheap restaurant but it was just a bit too old-tasting to me.Their chicken udon was good though!And their rolls were ok too.Just make sure not to order sashimi hahaAlso, there's only street parking. There were plenty when we went though.Also, the service was amazing!!Honestly would've given a lower rating if the service wasn't so good. There was only one lady doing everything and she was still super efficient and attentive.
I give this place -5 stars the service was absolutely terrible. We sat down and waited to be helped but it never came where other couples that were Asian were sat next to us and they were taken care of their orders water everything were we were just sitting there we felt very uncomfortable and pretty much discriminated against so we left and gave our money to a place that actually deserved it they treated us with respect.I will never go back

While I didn't like the music, and my Seafood Sukiyaki had very little seafood: one shrimp, a few tiny slices of squid, one little scallop and a few tiny clams, nevertheless the sukiyaki broth was lovely and my other dishes were excellent: mixed tempura was well done and the salmon teriyaki with homemade sauce was very tasty, so four stars it is. And yes, I will return.
First time eating here the food is amazing! We couldn't get enough of the rolls: we got the lion king, the Godzilla roll, fried spicy tuna, spicy California roll, miso soup, edamame, and the ikura nigiri roll the cheesecake to close out. 10/10 all around they have happy hour 5-7pm Monday thru Thursday
I was made to wait for nearly 20 mins to pick up an order beyond the assigned pickup time. Its frustrating when they didn't give me an estimate of wait time before hand, keeping me wondering every minute passing when the order would be packed and completed. They need to increase their speed of work.

I stopped by for lunch today and ordered a rainbow roll and a salmon skin hand roll. The food was very fresh and of excellent quality, and the service was exceptional.
My favorite sushi restaurant! I go here whenever I crave sushi. I tend to spend quite a bit of money when I'm there.
