You have to take two gondolas to get to this hotel. Our room had a balcony that had an amazing view of the Swiss alps. It is just a few feet from the gondola. We were there in October so the town of murren was in off season so not too many people and only a few shops were open. The hotel staff were great!. The only thing I did not enjoy was the tiny shower in our room. We really needed to soak in a tub after all the walking we did and their rooms did not have any. Overall I would recommend this hotel and certainly recommend Murren during it'd off season which is fall.
Had an amazing fondue experience on the roof of the Alpenruh restaurant. The per person cost for fondue was 27.50, the pretty standard for Swiss prices and you must have ordered a minimum of 2 so that it comes 55. It comes with only a variety of cheese but and the bread that was average and easy to chew. We ordered a side of plastered vegetables and a hot chocolate, which was enjoyed with a beautiful view of the mountain in icy cold (no heating on the deck). Highlight was definitely the view for this place.
I was at Hotel Alpenruh for a weekend and had an amazing experience. The staff was very friendly and courteous, the rooms were comfortable and clean. They have a magnificent view from the balcony and a great local restaurant. The food at the restaurant was delicious and authentic! The restaurant served some of the best Röschti I had in years. I cannot recommend this place enough for any traveler looking for a unique experience!
We just came here for the restaurant, we weren't in this hotel. The best food we had in Murren! We ordered roast and macaroni and cheese, and it was amazing! My husband and I are vegetarian and we are surprised how many possibilities there were. You need a reservation (at least if we have arrived in the summer), so make sure you get this!
