A friend and I stopped at the Hotel zum Bären for dinner on a chilly May evening. No one was sitting outside, but many were sitting inside at the small number of tables there. The two of us were seated at a table where another couple was already dining. We smiled at the other couple, exchanged a "Guten Abend" with them, and had a seat. The regular and daily menus are in German, but an English translation is available for the regular menu. Our server was very attentive, but spoke only very limited English; I speak some German, so it worked out okay for us. The food was wonderful. We spent the night in this fabulous little boutique hotel and decided to eat dinner there as well. We were delighted in every way! We had two different versions of the Feche (fish) which came fresh from the Bodensee that morning. It was tender and cooked to perfection. The salad was ample and the house dressing was perfectly balanced. The dessert was a glass flute filled with fresh berries and topped with ice cream. the restaurant in the hotel bear (for bear) serves some of the best German regional dishes I have ever experienced and I have traveled a lot in Austria and Germany and have lived there. the house maultashen are the best I have ever eaten and are heavenly. Eat, ambiente, service, cozyness, that is simply a great place. So climb up the hill, leave the tourist places that many have classified above this fantastic restaurant, and try in the unbelievably delicious German dishes from the region
my man and I decided to eat in this house at lunchtime, and we were not disappointed. it was recommended by our hotel the viktoria. we chose the menu that cost under euro. we started with the famous soup (white spatula), which was wonderful and creamy. then we got a plentiful salate we ate next to our delicious meal. we had forest fruits, ice cream and saw that was wonderful! could hardly walk meters away to our hotel as I was so full
