We where very surprised and upset by this strange behaviour, and just kept to ourself the remaining two days. We were staying in a nearby hotel and saw this restaurant by accident whilst driving past. Later that evening we decided to eat there and we were not disappointed. It is about – minutes walk from the ‘Explorer Hotel Berchtesgaden’. The atmosphere inside...the restaurant was really nice, quite busy and very friendly staff. Not all of the personnel spoke English, but one particular waitress did, so we had no problems asking about the menu. All of the waitresses were dressed in local Bavarian costume, which gave the restaurant a real local feel (especially to us as tourists). Off the beaten tourist paths of Berchtesgaden and Konigsee is this lovely hotel restaurant. My wife and I were lucky to stumble across it as we were looking for a lunch spot and wi-fi. The menu is typical German, but the food seemed to be...more carefully prepared and presented. It and the service were so good that we returned for dinner rather than revisit any of the more crowded and somewhat boisterous places in Berchtesgaden. This is not a beer hall, The local trout was excellent and the salad bar was the best we have seen in Europe, itself worth a re-visit. The terrace lured us there and the food kept us there. We both had chef specials of the day, which usually is always a plus at German restaurants, as they're quality and served piping hot. They have delicious local game too. I had the venison...(Hirsch) with local Preiselbeeren-Konfitür. Prices are good, service attentive and kitchen speed pretty fast. But who wants to rush, when you're dining at the foot of the Bavarian Alps... :
Happily surprised by the quality of the food. I had a tasty fish dish which was very fresh and well prepared. The service was good, even though we sometimes had to wait a bit. The chef also seemed very passionate and went outside the kitchen...to check with the customers. 15 minutes walking from the Konigssee, but well worth the visit!
Recommended by hotel staff for dinner, it is the best food we have so far in Germany. We have local steamed fish, it is fresh and tasty, we also have pork steak and is very tender. The salad buffet bar is the best. Will strongly...recommend this place for dinner when visiting Bachtgaden. Will come back tomorrow.
Great find. Was staying at the Explorer hotel and made the min walk here. The atmosphere and food really good. It was very busy but as there was only of us we got a table. I would recommend booking Food was very good...and reasonably priced. Would definitely eat there again
