This restaurant is in one of those solid, grey stone buildings that feature as hotels in so many German towns. Inside, the dining room is all creams and oranges, wooden banquets against the walls, a few alcoves and so on.......... the usual German village/town formula. Completely without individuality and almost, like so many English Chinese restaurants, as if the kit was rented from some central warehouse. This is the formulaic tragedy of so many urban places in Germany, and its a tragedy because once past that, the food is often good. Hanauer's was above average. The asparagus was wonderful, my wife's Weiner Schnitzel excellent (and she's a connaisseuse) and my Guinea fowl beautifully game...
the hanauer hof in appenweier stands for the bathroom kitchen. the environment accordingly blossoms. the kitchen stands for an upper level, but it comes only in limited scope. I was in front of the place at the time of the spats and have tried at different days, almost all spat dishes and must say the quality of the spats is good. everything was in order, but without surprise. a little pig. here the kitchen could be more pleasant to experiment. good local wines and beer varieties from the barrel. I have the necessary points to bribe in this class.
