During lockdown, one of my favorite East Bay cafes to work from is Hudson Bay. The café has a good amount of outdoor seating and decent Wi-Fi coverage. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is great, with good music playing in the background. The prices are very reasonable, with my veggie burrito costing only $7. I have visited this restaurant multiple times and have always been pleased with my drink. However, my most recent visit was extremely disappointing. The almond milk was non-fat and had no taste, and my espresso tasted like a mediocre americano. The staff did not inform me of these changes and when I mentioned that the $5, 2-shot drink was not worth returning for, they did not offer a replacement. I did not even finish my drink. I used to come here for the drinks, but the lack of consistency in their coffee preparation, including the ingredients, is a deal breaker for me.
This cafe is adorable and serves delicious food and drinks! The staff is very friendly and accommodating - they were able to make adjustments to my drinks without any trouble. I ordered the vegan breakfast burrito and vegan sausage muffin, both of which were really flavorful. They offer a wide variety of coffee and tea drinks, and the London fog I tried was excellent - you can really tell that they use fresh tea leaves. The drinks were served quickly, but the food took a bit longer. I will definitely be returning for more!
