We arrived after booking a table and were told in no uncertain terms to sit anywhere. Cutlery is over there , help yourself we were told. To say the cutlery was less than clean is an understatement. Took me a while to find some we would consider using after cleaning it ourselves. Went to the bar to get drinks and order food. Despite not being busy it took quite a while coming. One of the dishes should have had salad, a pile of limp lettuce was the sun total. The food was alright but the menus were filthy as was the cruet on the table. We visited on Thursday for tea. I’m not from the area but I met my son&girlfriend who are at uni here. It was his birthday. Plenty of parking. Plenty of tables so no need to pre book. Pre downloaded the greene king app, so ordered food and drink via this. They accept blue light vault codes too saving use 20%. We had steak, crown burgers and Mac n cheese. All were lovely The lady who delivered our food/drinks was lovely, chatty and very welcoming. I wish I got her name as she needs recognition for 5* customer service. What a great visit today. We booked a buffet for over 20 people for a retirement lunch for a colleague. The staff were great and really accommodating; the space reserved for our party was very much appreciated. Not only were the buffet food choices vast, but the food served was great quality, and the hot options came out hot (unlike some buffets where the food goes cold very quickly). The manager and staff were attentive to our party and the needs of our group from the outset. Overall, an extremely positive visit, great value for money, great location, great staff. Thank you!
Stayed here whilst working locally. The rooms, food, service and staff are fantastic. What a pleasure being there. Thanks to everyone from the early morning cleaners, breakfast/night porter people and tea time service, well done! Premier inns take notice, especially Caerphilly!

We use the hungry horse in Hessle and tried the highfield as we were out of town. This pub was (almost) just as good with friendly service, a good range of beer and skysports to watch. The facilities were spotless and the atmosphere of the pub was welcoming

Possibly the worst all day breakfast I’ve ever had. Had it at 4:30pm but it looked like a child had rustled it up this morning and it had been left in the oven till now
Recently moved to boro and highfield has become our regular Friday night local.... quiz night, food and drink all great......shame about the quizmasters red jacket

Friday night quiz nights are good fun and have a good friendly atmosphere. Really good food, I definitely recommend the burgers!
