Clearly, a restaurant with "burgers, shakes, and fries" in its name needs to deliver on those promises, and it certainly does! The burgers and shakes are fantastic, and the spicy shrimp salad is a delightful surprise. What stood out to me, and perhaps it's a southern charm (coming from New York), is how friendly and polite the staff were. We ordered takeout, and as we were leaving, the cook called out to wish us a good night, while the hostess stepped around the counter to hold the door for us. Maybe that's standard practice, but I like to think they just have exceptional employees. Overall, the food is great, the service is warm, so be sure to stop by and grab a burger!
Our family and I have visited here for the past few years. The service and food was declining rapidly. The tater tots were frost bitten, and fell apart vs crispy, the fries were cooked in old grease, and served soggy. And the burgers and such weresubpar. I tried them again today after new owners/management have had a chance to change things to their liking. I ordered acheese steak, and it was the best I have had ever! The roll was perfectly fresh, and the steak/cheese/toppings were perfectlycooked and seasoned. The input from my family and friends has been positive also! I hope that they keep up the great job!
My family, consisting of three adults and two children (including a 13-month-old), visited this restaurant. All the waitstaff appeared to be quite young. They served drinks without lids and placed them directly in front of the baby, which, as you can imagine, led to a mess—Dad ended up wearing the drinks! The only adult present was the cook, who seemed overwhelmed by the youthful staff. Unfortunately, the food was subpar and the service was slow. Overall, I would recommend finding a different Highway 55 location rather than the one on Five Points Road in Dudley.
My family of 3 adults and 2 kids as of which one child is 13 months went to eat here. All the waitstaff are kids. They brought drinks with no lids to the table and sat them down in front of the baby... Y'all know what happened then right? Dad wore the drinks. The one person over 16 was the cook who was stressed from all the kids being kids. The food was bad and slow. The service sucked too so go to a hwy 55 elsewhere. Not 5points road Dudley. The food was prepared too quickly. I ordered a shrimp plate with cheese fries and coleslaw, which came with garlic bread. The bread was heavily coated and greasy, making it soft. The shrimp was also greasy and not fully cooked. I had dined here before and it was great, but now it is just terrible. The waitress was unfriendly and unhelpful, and the cook seemed disinterested. I recommend replacing your employees with those who take pride in their work and your business. Currently, this is the worst place to eat.
When it was time to settle the bill, no one came to the register to assist us. We ended up waiting for what felt like an eternity, and the guy who prepared our food informed us that there was nothing he could do, as the server or manager was unavailable.
On our way home, we both suddenly experienced severe stomach cramps. Not only was the service subpar, but our entire evening was ruined because we felt too ill to do anything afterward.
We arrived at closing time but the cook and the waitress were gracious enough to serve us. The food and service was awesome as always and the timing was perfect because it was a terrible storm outside and we couldn't get to our vehicles anyway. I reallyappreciate the staff staying late to help us and we tried to tip them accordingly.... thanks you guys and gals are the best!
I used to enjoy dining at Highway 55, but lately, they've stopped answering the phone. I just want to place an order for my family, but it feels like they don't want my business.
