So you go to IKEA and suddenly you are transformed to your dream house with all your dream furnishings. Seriously you do. And it is so relaxing to go thru their maze of unique product and interior designs. And what makes it so enjoyable and relaxing to go to IKEA is because at some point in time you will be able to enjoy that piece of sofa you are pining for because it is reasonably priced. They have unique, simple and functional designs for their products that makes you think, "If only the world is designed like IKEA products, it will be a cosier and happier place to live in." That's according to an IKEA convert like me by the way. :-)

As a one dollar proposition, the ikea hot dog is arguably one of the best value quick eats. However whenever I eat one I am posed the question "is this actually a hot dog?" Given just about everything in ikea is an imitation of the real deal, I shouldn't be be questioning the faux dog. It's just that I find myself not just questioning the meat percentage of the dog component ( negligible, I think it's just play doh), but whether or not it is bread??? I believe the pricing is clever; at only one dollar I generally consider buying a second hot dog, just to see if if it is anymore real than the first.
I'm a bit of an IKEA addict and find travelling the extra distance to Springvale worthwhile. It is less hectic and often seems to have items that are out of stock in Richmond. There is always ample parking. There is no holding bay though if you are going solo, however there are loading bays within the P1 car park and the car park is usually quiet enough that you can just load at your car.Tip: If buying a kitchen or laminate, go to Richmond, as they send you to the offsite warehouse and pick it for you, you just need to load the car/trailer. At Springvale you need to do it all yourself.
Give it a miss - BYO food.1. Chips - Awful; they taste strange, are are not crisp, or cooked well.2. Swedish 'meat' balls - these have the consistency of recycled cardboard, and taste similar. The sauce is nice.3. When they first came to Oz, they were in Moorabbin, and the food was quite nice, and passable for food to have because you are hungry. But not anymore.4. Prepare to wait quite a while to get through to the service area, not enough staff serving, not enough food ready to go, so needed to wait while more was prepared (So, yes, it was freshly cooked).5. Sad, but true. Réservez une table maintenant
This is a great place to come for a coffee and a snack. It's especially pertinent after a bit of a walk as you don't realize the distance you have covered going through IKEA. And just before going down to collect the larger stuff in their marketplace the coffee and pie is the best break you can get.Best part is the drinks are limitless so enjoy but be careful of the caffeine intake.
IKEA is the place to go for do it yourself furniture. The option of adding on or subtracting certain features of the furniture makes it ideal for small, cramped spaces. Had breakfast at the Springvale branch & was pleasantly surprised. Enjoyed the traditional breakfast & the garlic bread. The Swedish meatballs & mash was great. The apple cake was average.
You don't come here for fine dining, but if you've got to buy stuff from IKEA or shopping near IKEA and it's dinner or lunch time it really hits the spot. You'll be pleasantly surprised. Everything I've eaten has been cooked to perfection. It is a bit like your English school cafeteria but I don't mind it. It's really cheap but it doesn't taste cheap.
The breakfast and lunch are good value at Ikea, sometimes the food is not as hot as i would like and they also stopped the free coffee if you have a loyalty card. Réservez une table maintenant
Our favourite place to spend the morning or afternoon that started off with breakfast or lunch before walking around the window shopping maze.
