I don't come here often as it is quite far but the food never disappoints. There is a wide selection of food on the menu all made fresh. The asparagus menu I had the ravioli to start and it was impeccable !!! Then for our main course was beef stroganoff which is cooked at the table . You cannot order this menu unless it is 2 persons or more . Then to finish we had the tiramisu which again you feel like it has come straight from Italy but better! The Swiss quality of Ingredients has you wanting more from even the butter on the table! This place will not disappoint. It is very cozy and warm as you feel like you are in a cellar with the natural stone surrounding you.
The food was ok, not bad not great... ..but the guy who took our order, while he was setting up other tables, he had a (clean) fork fell off to the floor and he just took it from the floor and put it back on the table. Once he realised we saw him, he went back to that table, took it from it into a drawer full of clean cutlery, mixed it with the rest and then took a fork from this stack and put it to the table. That was unhealthy and for me also disgusting... Maybe that was a one time mistake, I don't know, but it was my first time there and unfortunately the last..
This was an unexpected treat! I had the lamb chops and they were excellent! Three others had the steak and another a vegetarian meal. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The service was Excellent and the prices also good for Switzerland. The decor was very pleasing, a typical Grotto I was told. I loved it! Being from Canada, I don't see much like this. I was totally pleased!
Good food, but two menus were disappointing. I do expect meat sauces to be homemade. But we definitely noticed that they came out of a can/box..gravy ready made. What a shame. We were expecting more quality. I guess it depends what u chose. We didn't have pizza. Service was friendly but we had to wait unbelievably long for everything. We went on a Friday night. Please be aware I do not talk about the Pizzeria, but the Grotto. After several years I went there again, this with a manager from a nordic country. We were both excited about the service and the quality of the food. The good atmosphere was not destroyed by a high price, which is lower than for the same food in Zurich city center.
