"The place is nice but personnel very unfriendly. Kitchen is closed between 14.00 and 18.00 and they kicked us out. Probably they don't care about customer service. Avoid if you don't want to get upset."

.. where to start? recap: nice food, unprofessional stressed out/pushy/unfriendly/unprofessional waitress. We, Dutch family with two kids years old, arrived without reservation on a Tuesday night shortly before We were were offered the choice by a friendly lady (owner at or we preferred not to wait, we opted for Immediately after we were seated a waitress stood by the table to take our order. As the menu at first was only presented in German and as the creative dishes did have some typical Austrian names, I needed some time to translate the choices for my family members. The waitress was so stressed, she kept on coming back six ! times, nervously clicking her ballpoint pen , asking for our order, in a time frame of max minutes. Only when I explained to her that I had to translate all choices , she brought us English menus, but at that point we had made our selection under a lot of pressure. A kids selection was offered (schnitzel pommes frites or plain spaghetti with parmezan) , but our kids choose for a normal selection from the menu. Dishes were fine, nicely put together and of a high quality, although our ten year was still hungry after finishing her adult portion of pasta. Staff, especially the waitress was very stressed, running and addressing other tables around us with the same restless and rude approach. As we felt very uncomfortable, rushed and got the impression the staff wished to see us leave ASAP to be able to prepare our table for the next shift(s), we decided to pay and leave the place to get our deserts at another place where we know we would be more welcome. Then it turned out that the place accepts “cash only”!? For a restaurant of this level one expects to be able to pay with credit card or at least normal debit card. When we expressed our surprise, the same rude waitress picked up a menu and aggressively pointed out a line at the bottom of a page stating “cash only” (in German). Had we been given sufficient time to study the menu while ordering, we might have noticed this odd practice. When I again expressed my surprises, she only boldly replied:” I am not the owner”. To which I could only reply:” that was already very clear to us”. It only makes you think of why the restaurant does not accept card payments. Other restaurants in Rust at least do. Only do know that tax officers normally get quite superstitious if restaurants except no other payments than cash, even during when everyone knows contact less card payments reduce risks. ..? Fortunately we had enough of cash with us to leave on the table and rushed out as quickly as we could. When leaving the place we ran into our rude waitress. Asked her if we had left the table quickly enough within our time slot and told her we have felt rushed and not welcome during our (short) stay. She mentioned they were understaffed. Have told her that the level of service is not at all in line with the quality of the food and that one gets a much better guest treatment at Mc Donald’s. She mentioned I had to address her boss instead. Would not have mind to do so, but as I saw the queue of new guests arriving and had promised my kids a desert elsewhere we decided to leave it as it was. We for sure will never come back. When in Rust, fortunately we know much better places to go to.

It’s a restaurant with very nice atmosphere. It’s most probably the best and most expensive place of Rust. However in the menu we found a crispy piece of a suckling pig and then we got something that looked more like a sous vide cooked stick...of meat. That’s a no go if you offer crispy please deliver same as we pay what you ask for.

Location is good. We got in at 13:50 and were rushed to order. The waitress told us that there were a few things left from the menu and stood by the table waiting. We don't do German so we needed a bit of time and...More

In the heart of the city you find a gate heading to the restaurant. Very nice decoration and style. Lovely pasta with mushrooms and cream. Service could be a bit better- just smile Also a bit expensive.
