We were just driving past and popped in to see if we could grab some lunch, the staff there were really lovely and helpful. Made us feel really welcome like wed been there many times before, when in actual fact it was our first time there. Great range of food, not your tradional pub food. I had the Beef Stout Pie which was delicous the pastry was super delicous was more like a cottage pie dough. I could of eaten the cheese and herb dough by itself. Some other people in our group had buffulo wings which had a nice spicy taste to them. Lots of pork products on the menu, and are locally sourced. Great environment, was raining on the day we went but the heater outside at our table made it better...
Arrived on time for Sunday lunch reservation. We were seated promptly and given water and menus. It took half an hour before our drink and food order was finally taken. Unfortunately, 10 minutes after placing our order, we had to change our drinks. We had planned on ordering three courses each, but due to the long wait and obvious issues with the kitchen, we decided to share a steak sandwich instead. Despite seeing others' meals pass by our table, we still waited an hour and 50 minutes without receiving any food. Disappointed, we paid for our drinks and left, opting for takeout on our way home. We will not be returning for weekend dining. On a positive note, the view and hotel appear nice.
Atmosphere was great and overall restaurant is a beautiful scenery. As we entered the waitress offered if we would like some water for our table so we said sure. After we finished our waters she brought another bottle of table water for us without us asking, which at that point we thought was very kind. At the end of the night they charged us $16 for our table water, and when we questioned that they said you didn't ask for tap water, and we told them that they never gave us a choice?!! And that we got given the second bottle without being asked?! So we had to pay $16 for WATER at dinner. It was very sly of them. Plus the food was terrible by the way. Never going back.
Last night , we had tea with our son and his girlfriend for his Birthday. Unfortunately, the meal was disappointing,despite it been a beautiful warm venue. One meal ,a chicken schnitzel was burnt and dry that cost $24 . The Chicken Parmy was similar and virtually no sauce just grilled cheese and that was $28. The meals came with chips and a small serve of tasteless coleslaw. I have never complained about a meal before, but it really was terrible and ridiculously expensive for what was served . Regrettably, our reservation at the restaurant was canceled by the establishment less than 24 hours in advance due to weather conditions. We were informed of the cancellation via text message. It would have been helpful to know at the time of booking that there was a possibility of last-minute cancellations due to weather, especially considering the rainy and stormy spring season. This experience was very disappointing, and as a result, I will not be making another reservation at this restaurant.
Had lunch with 12 others, everything came out on time and together. The food was actually exceptional, the menu is small but has a good variance. The drinks service was slow. When the server arrived, they were attentive but actually getting one took time. Gin Fights were interesting, make sure you ask for soda if you prefer it or you’ll just get tonic. Venue is very pretty, in the winter the fires in the front lounges are cozy. Summer has the garden blooming. Enjoyed the view.
I made a reservation with a group and enjoyed the gnocchi as an appetizer. However, the main course, which was dry chicken, was not enjoyable. Additionally, there was no option for dessert, as I do not eat Panna Cota. The price of $80 per person felt expensive for the quality of the food. I believe they should offer more choices if they are going to charge that much per person.
Beautiful venue in a gorgeous setting on the perfect day for lunch on the balcony. The food was very good. Sadly the service was terrible. It is such a pity that management dont train wait staff, it would make such a difference. The guys behind the bar were awesome. At least upon leaving we saw a smiley face. We had been there earlier this year and were very positively suprised: the food is great, differs totally from standard pub food but also quality and freshness are excellent. Plus a very nice atmosphere and truly friendly people. Went again last night and were not disappointed. We will go again...
