Entering this East African restaurant in Cologne you will be welcomed by a very modern lounge interior - very chic in white and dark brown. The bigger the surprise when you get your dishes: NO cutlery! At first you think this must be a mistake - but it is not: you have to wrap your delicious food in Injera (Eritrean kind of sourdough flat bread) and eat it with your fingers! But once you get used to it it's fun, especially with a larger group of friends or family. There is not an all to great selection of different dishes (lamb, chicken, beef and vegetarian only) but every one of them is so very yummy, that it makes you come again. and again. and again.
My husband and I tried Injera last night for the first time and had a lovely experience. The restaurant is decorated very nicely, great ambiance. We received a warm welcome and were seated right away. We decided to share the platter for 2 and the food was amazing! The flavours were so rich and just the right amount of spice. The platter had a nice variety of foods, the chicken and beef were cooked very well and the different veggie dishes were fantastic. After supper we had the Mangooo for dessert and it was so refreshing. When we left we were both so full after having a wonderful evening. We will definitely come back to Injera again.
We visited Injera to try something different. The staff is very, very nice! There are many vegetarian options. The food is good if you want to try something different. But for me it is more something to try once, but nothing I would say I can go here again and again. A little experience, but that's it.
