Speciality is that the fish they sell is fresh. Behind the restaurant is a stream where the fishes are reared. We had ordered fried trout and smoked forelle fishes and both were great. They serve complimentary sea food salad along with bread herbs-butter. The Argentenian...red wine also very good but was very expensive. Better to order the German wines I think. Courtesy, service, ambience, location, everything was excellent. English menu card available and the staff also speaks English. It is not one of those cheap restaurants but the money you pay is worth it. I will come back here again in my next visit. It closes at so be there in time for dinner.
From the sparklng wine waiting for us in the room, via the balcony directly overlooking the babbling brook, to the extremely modern shower, everything about the room was just about spot-on. The receptionist-come-waitress was extremely helpful and spoke good English (to help us out with...our poor German). Bed was comfortable, breakfast decent don't be phased by the shower controller which is a little daunting at first glance just press for the overhead drench-shower, and do the hand-held one. Room-size was a little on the small-side, but the balcony more thann made up for that.
The terrace is really in an idyllic setting. Service was friendly and outstanding. Went there for lunch and LOVED the trout and everything. They actually have their own trout pond on the property (though the trout is brought to there from a local trout farm)....The trout tasted obviously fresh and very well prepared. Incidentally, the building itself has been beautifully restored/built. Overall a great place for lunch (or maybe dinner). Not inexpensive, but definitely not expensive and well worth it, especially if its a beautiful day and you can dine outdoors.
We stayed at the Inselklause, and after reading reviews about the restaurant, had to try it. We usually avoid hotel restaurants, but are GLAD that we didn't in this case (in fact, we went twice during our stay)! The chef was so much fun...he came...out of the kitchen to talk to guests and in fact, was happy to show us the trout in the stream (that we later ate that evening The staff was attentive and spoke good enough English! I highly recommend the smoked trout arguably the best dish that we had!
Stopped here while on a driving tour through the Black Forest back in May After some driving, I stopped in for a little something to eat. While I arrived in late afternoon options were limited as the dinning room wasn't really serving, however when...I saw they had Black Forest Cake that was all I wanted. How can you pass up eating Black Forest Cake while in the Black Forest. : It definitely hit the spot.
We are staying at the Inselkause hotel and just had dinner in the restaurant following the recommendations. It was indeed a wonderful dinner. The trout was perfect and so was everything else. The ox soup with crepe had too much salt but still it was...very good. The service was slow but that's what slow food is about. Nice atmosphere and fresh tasty dishes
in the meantime, I was several times a guest in the restaurant. Every time the same excellent service, a wonderful and surprising food in best quality. Breathtaking was the course New Years menu, courses of excitement, surprises and feeling like in heaven. If...you are around, do not miss it
It is our second time in Schonwald and we enjoyed having dinner at inselklause restaurant again. I had my favorite dish Trout fillet with pastilles made specially for me also the carpaccio was delicious and the chocolate mousse . Price range is higher than...average but it's worth it.
