On November 22, 2022, I visited Islands in West Covina for the first time with a group of 17. I was excited since the restaurant smelled wonderful upon arrival. However, when our organizer called to make a reservation, we were told it was first come, first served. Unfortunately, this meant half of our group didn’t get a table, which left a negative first impression.
While waiting, the manager never checked in to see if we were okay. The situation was frustrating because we expected to enjoy lunch comfortably, not just sit on chairs without tables. Islands serves amazing truffle fries, and their burgers are really delicious. Even though I'm not typically a burger fan, this is one of the rare places where I genuinely enjoy them. The ambiance is pleasant, as it's not too hectic. During my last visit, the service was outstanding.
I recently had a severe case of food poisoning after dining at this restaurant, which led to a really unpleasant night. I will not be returning there again. Furthermore, I emailed my details to the address provided, but it's been almost a week and I still haven't heard back.
The food was absolutely delicious and the service was exceptional. The new manager, Susan, and our server, Melissa, provided wonderful service. I would give it a ten out of ten and definitely recommend this restaurant!
